I am pretty sure that you can take one day off looking for jobs so I wouldn't sweat it

Surely people don't need to be told that they don't need to search on Christmas Day.
I've been told I need to be doing at lest 3 hours everyday! including Saturday and Sunday, I asked about Christmas day and told yes, its just like any other day and I should be attempting to contact companies as normal.
Like some other on here I have young children and would prefer a PC free day to spend playing with them and enjoying their gits with them. The whole system has gone mad and the JC advisers are becoming little Hitlers at an alarming rate.!!0 -

Enjoying? How can I enjoy anything when I have no £ or job.You not going to be enjoying the day with friends or family then.
There is no enjoyment that I know of.We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
You don't have to be loaded to enjoy the spirit of xmas x
AP have you thought about breaking the rules just for once? it may help
Spare a thought for the people who have been sanctioned and are homeless
I'm still undecided if I will jobsearch on the day, I will also take the consequences but ask myself why has everyone in my JC been excused from attending next week!?0 -

Horrified that people are explicitly being told to search on Christmas Day. Seems my jobcentre was rather enlightened.0 -

People who are working on Christmas Day have a days holiday to take another time. That's the point of public holidays - everyone gets them.
I just don't believe anyone would ever be sanctioned for not job searching on Christmas Day. The advisors telling people they have to are just being daft and unpleasant. I would love to see how the jobcentre would reply to written request for clarification.0 -

There is no way I'll be asking any of my customers to job search Christmas day. Everyone deserves to enjoy that day with there family and friends.
As long as you have taken steps over the holiday period that should be fine. benefit is paid in weeks as long as your taking your steps over that week i very much doubt a DM would even look at a refferal if sent up because of no j/s xmas day.0
