I have been told to search full time and that's always been every day of the week. It's the same as any other day to me. To others its not.

The OP should ask his JC

I agree the OP should check.

My jobcentre gave people forms to show what they'd done each week. They only had boxes for Monday to Friday. Job search should be full time, but full time hasn't meant seven days a week since early in the nineteenth century. Everyone needs to rest and relax and that includes people who are busy looking for work.

Mine just have a box for the dates you applied for jobs on. Available for work 7 days a week according to the job centre and at all hours so missing a day is not an option and never would be either way for me.

Rest and relax? I am not sure what from :)

Are you normal? You post a question at least once a day here - why not think a little or maybe ask the JC?

Rest? I said a rest from what? Its not like I am working or have a life!

  • You do job search a great deal though, sometimes a small bit of rest (from that) and relaxation can do wonders.
  • I definitely wouldn't advise it if you're serious about getting a job obviously but you could in theory job search for an hour a week if you wish. As long as you're meeting your job seekers agreement then your benefit should be paid.

Before I did it on paper I used to add all my job search activity onto Universal Jobmatch in one day. Everything had the same date and they were never bothered about that when I explained I'd actually been job searching the full fortnight I just don't really use UJ for job hunting so only logged in once a fortnight to add my activity.

If you have to jump through hoops to get your JSA, find out what you need to do to jump those hoops and comply with them.

A bit like work, being on JSA is a game, you just need to play the rules and you will be fine.

When I was made redundant a few years back just before Christmas (about a week prior) it was mentioned that they wouldn't expect you to look for jobs on Christmas day as they asked me what I was doing for it, can't remember what was said about boxing day, but as long as you are doing enough overall, it's fine.

Granted, it might be a different set of rules for long term unemployed however, I wouldn't know about that.

Perfectly understand that we should be job-searching over Christmas, plenty of people are at work over that period, however are we really expected to log in and record a search on Christmas day? To be honest I was hoping not to that day.

I wont be, wont even have internet access xmas day.
