Jobseeking during Christmas Period?

Comments

  • True people do but they get the time off at another time. I job search every day during the year (including band holidays) I was just hoping to be able to have a pc free day on Christmas day. If I can't then fair enough I will job search (I am not that worried about it).

In your position I'd get it over and done with first thing - set aside an hour and then you've got the rest of the day to yourself. For many years I would work 6am to midday on Christmas Day and loved it - a few hours of calm away from all the madness ;)

Yes there are some jobs that go live on Xmas day just like they go live on Sat or Sunday as discussed already with the OP

If there are any I certainly wont miss then as if I don't look Christmas day I will be checking that day as well when I search on boxing day, however it looks like I will be looking Christmas day. At least ds will have new toys to keep him busy whilst I do so.

first thing?? with a six year old! lol

Thanks I can see where you are coming from but for me it will be better mid afternoon when he has opened everything and is occupied. I take your point hopefully it wont take too long.

I would really treat it like any other day and have the lap top on all day. That's my plan.

Perfectly understand that we should be job-searching over Christmas, plenty of people are at work over that period, however are we really expected to log in and record a search on Christmas day? To be honest I was hoping not to that day.

    Hi
Your benefit runs in weeks so as long as your job searching over the week I wouldn't worry about it on Xmas day. I would hope that youre advisor wouldn't be that finiky. Put your feet up and enjoy your day with your little one.

I'm sure to get shot down by some. but If you require any further clarification I'm happy for you to direct message me.

I am a single Mum to a six year old. That doesn't excuse me from job searching or working but I certainly will not be treating Christmas day like any other day and if that is wrong then so be it, I will have to take the consequences.

You don't have to job search on public holidays like Christmas Day. Quite right too. I certainly wouldn't!

When I was signing on last summer I was told that I wasn't expected to search on weekends and bank holidays.

Surely people don't need to be told that they don't need to search on Christmas Day.

I have been told to search full time and that's always been every day of the week. It's the same as any other day to me. To others its not.

The OP should ask his JC
