Phew! What a long day...going to the gym after work was a pretty dumb idea! I reaaaallllly don't fancy this OT I've signed myself up for tomorrow. I'm shattered, and I've got so much to do at home to get sorted for Christmas. Oh and it's my OH's work's do tomorrow night! I feel tired just thinking about it

Still a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to pay her debts. At the least the work's do is completely free, that's something. Dunno how long I will last before I want to turn in for the night though.
Don't know if I've mentioned this, but I've joined the Sealed Pot Challenge to help me squirrel away some extra money for Christmas next year. Hoping it will pay for the food shop at the very least.
Too tired to type much more, so I will report back tomorrw when I'm feeling more alive! Night everyone xx0 -
Geez what a day! So my 8.20-12.30 OT at work became 8.30-15.00  still must think that equates to over 9 hours pay at time and a half. It was so busy!
Haven't had anything to eat either, so I'm now stuffing a crumpet down my gullet before dashing off to the shower to get ready for my evening out. Need to be ready for 6.45, so should be OK.
Looking back over my previous posts, they all seem to start with me moaning about work, and how busy my day was :rotfl::rotfl:
I need to change my tune, try to stop being a Moaning Myrtle!
On a happy note there are now some presents under the tree for me! :j Yippee! Is it really sad that one of the gifts I asked for was a notebook I saw on Amazon for tracking spending/budgets?????? I'm so excited to receive it! :cool:0 -

Hi there! :hello::hello:
Welcome to my little old diary! I shall seek yours out in a mo' too. I find this site really helpful in maintaining a DFW state of mind. There are lots of challenges to join in to, which I recommend taking full advantage of!
My diary should get a little more exciting soon, as I plan on sorting out my budget and going through it, along with joining in the Grocery Challenge, making a list of my targets for next year etc, so watch this space

We can do this :j. I will search them all out, such a lot to take in. Thank you for post in my diary.

Hi Diary,
So tired today, staff party was great and didn't spend a single penny :jUnfortunately my back is really sore (it's a bit dodgy) today, so I haven't really got up to much. Managed to finish off wrapping the last of OH's presents, which I'm pleased about.
I then have spent the last couple of hours trying to create the perfect budget! I'm finally satisified with it.
This month will be tough as I will need this pay packet to finish off my Christmas buying, but if I can just get through January I think I will be on to a winner! I've accounted for my basic wages, which will then leave me with the surplus from OT etc which can then be put towards paying off debts and saving up for essentials for the house, whichever is the priority in any given month. I've created savings for Christmas and birthdays, car maintenance, house maintenance etc, so that we can start to slowly (at first, whilst we pay off our debts) build up savings to prepare for rainy days and emergencies etc.
My next project is to get accurate figures for the debts, so that I can get the total, and try to figure out a Debt Free Date! I'm excited/nervous/freaking out to see what the grand total is. Still it's about time I faced the reality of our situation.
I'm also in the middle of thinking of some goals and targets for next year to keep me motivated and on track. Want to join the Grocery Challenge starting from January, as I'm fairly sure this is one area we can definitely make some savings. I definitely want my CC paid off by the end of next year! So that's one goal right there!
Anybody else have any targets they want to share, help give me some inspiration?0 -

We can definitely so it! All we need is some determination (and well some money I suppose)! We can then help and support each other to realise our goal of debt free freedom! :T0 -
I read your post with interest as I can sympathise with the realisation that you haven't planned for Christmas, it's a truly horrible feeling. I had the same feeling at about the same time!
However it's a great feeling to know that it will be the last time and that it really can focus the mind.
I shall be subscribing as I think I will pretty much have the same goals, pay off credit card, grocery challenge (our grocery bill in too high for two people) and
I have put money aside each month onto an Asda savings card though for Christmas food and only had to put £10 towards the Christmas Shop so I recommend that way of saving for Christmas too!
My other goal is to put £50 a month into an emergency savings fund as I suspect my fridge freezer is on borrowed time. Thinking about £500 would replace most electrical things if they go bang. Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising
Lloyds loan - gone forever! :T
Bank of Mum and Dad gone forever!

Hiya, great plans above, I am in a similar situation. I did not financialy plan Christmas at all. I am setting a DD with Parks, as the now do a high st gift card combined with asda or morrisons. I have checked out all of the shops and can do my Christmas shopping in all of them, also Asda have a wide range too. I have gone for £400 £300 on hight st and £100 for Asda. So that is £40 a month for 10 month and that's Christmas 2014 in the bag. I know if I try to bank this money, it may well get dipped into, paying straight to parks, means i cant get at it. You get back all you pay in, so well happy with that too.
Groceries and meal planner, i too need to get my head around that. too much spent here for 2 adults too.

I looked at Park too in the end the only reason why I didn't was I like the freedom to shop on best prices etc and my bro in law usually ends up with camping bits so I will put money into my spare account and give the card to my Mum so I can't dip into it. I did debate freezing it but know I'd probably end up pouring boiling water on it if I needed it in a hurry.
My plan is to set a budget and anything under I will add to my supermarket savings card too. Aiming for just £25 for the champagne I would have loved to buy today but couldn't justify
Bought Bucks Fizz instead
