Thank you very much! Do you have a diary too? I'm always in the market for more diaries to read, they are so inspiring and full of good advice!

It really is!!! :D:D:D I feel as though the weight that's been pressing on my chest is starting to ease up. I'm realising that I can do this.

Another super busy day again today. Work, then came home, got changed and went to zumba class with SIL. Finished that, showered dinner, cleaned up and now look at the time
Tomorrow will be more of the same, as it's late night shopping in Torquay, so we are going after work to finish off the Christmas gift shopping. Bleurgh, I just hope it doesn't rain as much as it did today! Driving along the seafront was a bit scary, the waves crashing over the sea wall were HUGE!

My brain is a bit frazzled tonight, I can't seem to think straight, so I apologise if this post makes no sense what so ever :p
  • Haha I'm working nights this week so a little of both I suppose! :D I've still not managed to get the last few bits of Christmas presents bought - will have to dash out somewhere on xmas eve to grab a couple of boxes of chocs just to finish gifts off.

Hope you had a lovely evening Bird?

I think I'm going to have a bit of a rubbish day! :(

OH has left me a list of things he needs for his side of the family for Xmas that he didn't get yesterday. I told him last night I had no money left, so he needed to leave me some money, but all he said was, "Just chuck it on the CC":mad::mad: I don't want to, but I'm now going to have to (that basically meant he has no money left either I'm thinking). Oh and my niece txt and asked me to grab something for her bff as she is in school today, and she will pay me back later. How do I say no? :(
I've written this month off anyway until payday. But that's not the point. I was so, so, so hoping to end the month not having increased my debts, but actually I think it was a bit of a big ask. :( I MUST BE PREPARED NEXT YEAR!!!!
We are going to sit down and have a serious chat after Christmas though, and I am going to spell it out for him. That next year we will NOT be using our CC's for anything. We are clearing them. Preferably I want him to get rid of his completely, as I don't think he will ever to be able to resist temptation if there is something he really wants. We only need one for emergencies, until I can get us set up with a decent emergency fund.

I am going to do a balance transfer hopefully though, as the MSE email had a 29 month barclay card, or a 24 month Lloyds card in it. At the moment not all of my debt on my current CC is at 0%, so I figure I might as well switch, and close my current CC down. I'm leaning towards Loyds atm, as although it's 24 months, which is shorter time the transfer fee is less (1.5% as opposed to 2.79%), and 24 months is plenty of time to clear a £1200ish debt, well maybe £1300 by the end of today... :o

Right I'd best go and get this over with. See you all later! I'm hoping to sit down this afternoon and plot out a budget to start afresh with on payday, that will set me right and put me on the straight and narrow. :D

(feels better to end the post on a positive note and smiley face)

I dont think you should wait until next year to have a chat , at the moment you are enabling him , just say no to buying what he should be financing and let him explain to his family why they have no presents .

The fact that he had £32k and only paid his dad (?) £3k off what he owes should be a very loud warning bell
Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later

Urrgh you are running the Christmas Eve gauntlet! I wish you good luck :p No way you will catch me near the shops on Christmas Eve.

Hope your nights are going well, I don't know how people do them. My body clock is set in stone, I pretty much wake up/fall asleep around the same time every night :rotfl:

He did have a discussion with his dad about what to pay him when he got the PPI, as his dad had told us not to worry too much about paying him back, but we felt we wanted to. That was the figure they agreed during some manly chats I wasn't party to. I do agree we should have paid more though, I should have pressed him harder in that regard :o
I did put my foot down a little bit on Monday. I only got a couple of things he wanted me to get, hence why we are going back out tonight for late night shopping. He has just sold his old bike on ebay for £150 and the buyer paid yesterday, so he has said we can use that money to finish off the shopping, and he will pay me back what he owes me.
You are right though, I do need to have the chat sooner rather than later. I think he is slowly starting to realise on his own that we need to make some changes. I just don't want to spoil Christmas. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and if I'm upset everyone will know :(
  • Morning EB,

Well done on the ebay sale, I find that bikes do go very well on there.

I agree about 'the chat', if you've any hope of tackling the debt and budgeting properly, he needs to be on board.

I'm really pleased with the ebay result! It's really helped us out.

I kinda did speak to OH in the car this morning as he gave me a lift to work. He agrees that next year we need to be more careful with the money, and that we should both agree with the other before spending anything on our credit cards from now on. That may not sound like much, but I know my OH and that is a pretty big step for him! This journey will all be about little changes that add up to big results along the road.

Right lunch break is just about over, must dash!!

OMG what a busy day (well week actually). This week has been manic thus far :o

I would like to clarify my previous post re: the CC's. We have no intention of putting anything on the CC next year, just getting them cleared, but realistically I need to keep hold of one until we have built up an emergency fund, and have some savings to our name incase of emergenices!

Thinking ahead to next year I can make another saving when my mobile phone contract is up (need to confirm, but think this is in May). I currently pay £36 a month :eek: I know... I've been such an idiot :o. I want to cut my contract down to around the £15 mark, also need to cancel the phone insurance as my contents policy covers my mobile.

Also on the MSE front; I am now working on Saturday for approx 4 hours (girl who I'm replacing is now off poorly). This is at time and a half, so I will get paid for 6 hours. The OT gods have favoured me :p If I'm honest I don't particularly want to, as I'm working next weekend (my rota is that I work one weekend in 6), but money is money and I need all I can get at the moment!

Still mulling over my budget. I will work on it properly Sunday, when hopefully I have some time to think and breathe! This is not something I can rush. My parents are visiting from Cheshire on the 27th, hoping they don't want to do anything too expensive! :rotfl:

Well I'm off to make a mug of hot chocolate before turning in for the night. Think an early night is in order! Work is shaping up to be mental tomorrow. The joys of working in a hospital I suppose!

    T xx
