Os Daily - Saturday 23rd June 2007

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 22nd June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone

Yes I know its early. Switched the screen off the PC and went off to watch Piorot last night, both DH and I fell asleep during it, probably due to 5 am start, woke up as it finished, and just went straight to bed.

Woke up a short time ago and took the normal walk, back to bed and DH snoring for England, or even Europe, couldnt get back off so got up as it is guaranteed he stops snoring as soon as I get out of bed:mad: and I was fed up of listing to him, decided to have a browse round the web so starting off.

Plans for the day:
Hairdressers 10.30 am, keep scanning and sorting the paper mountain, just had a look at the meal planning thread, that is definitely alien to me, my Mum always used to ask me "What are you having for tea tomorrow", don't know til I get home from work tomorrow would be my usual answer! I must try harder mustn't I?

Well going to go back to bed now and see if I can get a few more zzzzzzzzzz's. One of the reasons I avoid watching TV is I usually fall asleep in front of it then have a night like this.

Take care

My daughter and her friend came back with bag fulls of freebies... Harley Davison T-Shirts, loads of different companies stickers, post it notes, badges, hats, sweets and posters, they had such a great time. we visited a stall and they were asking competion questions to win hats.... the first person to shout out the answer got one... well one of the questions was.. Name a film with a car in the title or a film about a car... well i won... quess what i gave as an answer ?......CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG !!!!!!!!! how embarrassing was that answer !!!!!! the festival of speed and all i could say was that !!!!!!! the man was laughing his socks of.. he said its the best answer that hes had all day and gave the kids hats as well !!!!!!
got some formula 2 drivers autographs from Toyota. saw all the cars from Wacky Races... i know that most of you must remember watching that.... i know that shez will !!!!!!!!!

Morning. Sound like you had a great day out Amie. Trouble is with living down this way is that it's too far from anywhere. It's nice enough down here, but nothing really big happens.
First thing I have to do today is look at the fridge, which seems to have stopped working. The freezer is fine, but the fridge is at room temp. I will have to cook all the BBQ meat well later!!!.
I think there must be a blocked something as the cold air from the freezer circulates around the fridge, or is supposed too. I hate things breaking down.
My printer has gone up the spout too....
I have a big BBQ planned for later, hope the weather is nice, too many coming and too much money of it if it turns out bad.
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

    Good morning all

I'm regretting two bars of chocolate and a packet of crisps I had instead of dinner last night and so a run round the park is to be my punishment.

Then I might try to tidy up an little, and then shout at my family for the rest of the day. Just the usual Saturday.

Good morning all! AMIE - sounds like you had a brilliant time yesterday; glad the weather didn't stop play!
FLUFFYMUFFY - at least you didn't eat the chocolate bars and crisps AND dinner! A girl's gotta eat! Don't punish yourself!
N9EAV - hope the weather holds off for your BBQ!
Well, didn't sleep that well last night, despite the lavender. Think I'm still getting ferry-lagged! Managed to get half the ironing done yesterday and DH has offered to do the rest today, fingers crossed he won't need reminding! Need to do a big shop so will aim to hit the Co-op between 8.00 and 9.00 this morning, then off to the butcher and the farm shop. Have no meal plan for this coming week at all so will have to look at everyone else's for inspiration!
The weather here looks lovely - at the moment! The sun is shining and it feels quite warm. Yesterday, we had the loudest thunderclap I've ever heard - I'm so glad I wasn't driving at the time! Then the rains came, then the hail, then some more thunder and lightening - all in about fifteen minutes at lunchtime! Then later it turned into a really beautiful evening. Everything in the garden is growing like mad and looks a bit jungly!
I saw a horrible thing yesterday that really shocked me; on my neighbour's house roof that I can see from my kitchen
window, I saw two crows picking at something and two blackbirds trying to fight them off - the noise from the blackbirds was really upsetting - and I realised that the crows must have taken a blackbird fledgling from the nest. From the amount of feathers that were flying around, I knew it was too late to save the baby and you could tell the parents had given up because they just stood on the edge of the roof looking so forlorn. The crows flew off with their catch and that was the end of that. I know it's all the 'food chain' and so on, but it's the first time I've seen that happen and they were MY blackbirds that we've been so careful not to disturb. Nature can be wonderful and horrific all at the same time, can't it?
On to happier things; I've been looking at the photos of DD1's wedding that I took and I'm really pleased with them. I have to decide which ones to make into an album (they were quoted £500 by the wedding organisers for photos so we all said we would them instead!) but I like them all so it's going to be a big album!
    Anyway, will drop in later.

Hope you all have a great day!

    Good morning all!

Amie - glad you had a good day at Goodwood
    N9eav - enjoy the BBQ!

Shopping & sorting out day here, as tomorrow DS goes off to Wales for a week & DH & I go down to Portsmouth to see DD & family as it is DGD1's 3rd birthday (actually it's today) Then Monday I get to take DS1 & fiancee to Gatwick, then back to Portsmouth Tuesday to babysit DGDs all day Wednesday. I should get to know the M25 in the next few days! I hope junction 5 is behaving itself!

Anyway, need to do meal planning & make sure there is enough shopping for DH to feed himself while I am away next week (although I suspect he will go visit his & my mums to be fed!)

So, washing load no. 2 is on & I am debating whether load no. 1 goes on the line or in the drier.....
......looking out the window, I think the drier may win!

Have a good day, everyone! ((((hugs)))) to all of you!

  • Good morning fellow OSers,

Hope you've all survived thunder, lightning and rain lately... I did unplug the pc last night as I haven't got a surge protector - will be investing in one soon, I think, when I can afford it.

Well, the screen's looking pretty good and in sharp focus - I now have prescription reading glasses, and can read properly again!!

Amie, loved your Chiity Chitty Bang Bang answer!! It would have been mine too.... glad you and the kids had such a great day.

I haven't posted much lately as I've been creaking at the seams physically, but have read the thread when I could manage it, and I hope everyone's well and happy.

Have a good day, and happy OSing.

    Hugs
