OK getting "free" for 8 hours a week as long as you`re not paying over the odds for the other 160 hours.

Don't they only offer a standard tarriff now plus fixed variants?. I thought the general public demanded all discounted tarriffs be discontinued because they were confusing?

I would imagine once the novelty wears off and usage goes back to regular patterns (ish) this could still offer 5 - 7% off....every little helps.

Ye I see what you mean but eight hour's is better than nothing. I think in america they actually give the full free electric for 24 hrs on a Saturday.
Like you say it will be interesting to see what savings I can make.

Thought i would give you an update.
Today we used 26 kWh in the free period.
And so far 5 kwh outside of the free period.
A normal days usage without any washing being done is around 12 kwh.

Just thought i would give you a quick update. We have been on the free electric on a Saturday for 6 weeks now and used a total of 160 kwh of free electric.Which would be around £19.52 Today we used 30 kwh in the 8 hour period. We try to collect most of our washing for the Saturday especially the big thinks like bedding and towels.
Also finally had our gas meter changed over to a smart meter this week as well. Shame they won't do a trial for free gas

    Hi,
Just thought i would give you a quick update on the Trial Tariff.
I have been on the Free electric Saturdays between 9am - 5pm since the middle of December.
In total we have used 440 kwh of free electric.
I admit some times in can be a pain having to stop in on a Saturday but it does seem to be saving us some money.
Just hope they launch the tariff in the end as i would like to stop on it.

Is there a "fair usage" policy? Where free 8 hours actually means capped at X amount?

No it doesn't have a capped limit.
