Jobs

Anyone noticed that Jobs on Job websites have gone a bit quite?

I don't know if its something to do with Christmas coming up but yesterday it was the 1st time I haven't applied for any Job as I always apply for jobs everyday.

Yesterday was nothing on at all on every Job websites, most of the Jobs posted yesterday I already applied for them. :(

Well I phoned a couple of companies/Employers this week

I sent about 8 spec letters out in the post and I just sent 2 out this morning.

I look in newspapers, Burnley express and Lancashire evening Telegraph.

I visited a couple of shops this week asking if any vacancies and they all said no but I give some of them my cv.

Also I keep in contact with Job agencies 3 days a week.
  • I'm sure this is a waste of a post, but I'm surprised you don't have to contact employers through the likes of linkedin..? anyway brought my local newspaper this week even though other weeks it hadn't been fruitful and unbelievably that had an opportunity for the unemployed which may blow everything out of the water here's hoping, just goes to show as I wouldn't have seen it anywhere else if I hadn't thought newspaper, I really nearly didn't

UJM still advertising jobs mores to the pity, other sites running slow for me along with opportunities definitely becoming sparser - one took 24 hours to send copy of an application I had made I noticed, oh well I am dismissed from my next signing that was close to xmas day, perhaps that is why

Its fairly traditional in a large number of sectors who the job market to quieten down mid December til mid/end of January.

Having said that I have seen some decent jobs come up on the various linkedin groups I am in so its worth having a look on there, also start thinking creatively about job titles, HR depts do like to get creative with job titles and you can easily miss roles by having narrow search terms.
  • Its certainly traditional in most sectors for the job market to slow. That said this year seems a bit different with a fair number of calls from agencies etc about new roles (not that I am currently looking) to both I and others I know in similar lines of business

Well good for you but depends what sort of Jobs people are looking for. we all not looking for the same Job you know and some days we can't always apply for jobs if they is no Jobs to apply.

Like for example, you might looking for a Doctors/nurse Job and others might look for Plumbing, warehouse ete.

So stop acting like your an advisor from Jobcentre, you are not.

I noticed some people on this forum try to act like advisors from Jobcentre, I repeat this is not the Jobcentre so stop bullying into people to tell you what steps their taken for their Jobseeker agreement.

It makes my blood boil sometimes on this forum, some bully's on here.

Just tell them its none of their business, gay_guy, because quite honestly, it really isn't.

Unless people ask for advice on the matter, surely the actual details of how people go about seeking work is between the job seeker and their advisor?

There does seem to be this culture of people thinking that they have the right to ask, hound and judge JSA recipients about what they do with their lives, how they are looking for work and what they spend their money on.

If I were a JSA recipient, I would tell such people to pee off quite frankly!

As regards to your actual post, yes, traditionally there is a bit of a slump in the jobs market around this time of year. No-one really wants to be bothered with recruitment just before Xmas.

The good news, however, is that there is usually a big recruitment drive just after the new year.
