:rolleyes:MSE_Martin wrote: »A room at £1 a night seems like a good idea but if you can only book for one night before you get sucked into their higher prices it's a bit pointless (unless you really only want to go for one night)!25 June 2007
What's it about?
A hotel in Hoxton, London is offering rooms for £1 a night for bookings between 1 July to 30 September. The price even includes breakfast! There are 500 rooms at the special rate, and you can book them online from 9am Thursday 28 June 2007. It is very likely these will all be gone by 5.30pm at the latest so ensure you get the timing right.
At that price surely the rooms can't be that good?
See for yourself. Check out the hotel's photo gallery.
Why the hurry if they're not available yet?
The hotel have run this £1 offer three times before and the rooms went like proverbial hotcakes. This time 500 rooms will be offered at £1 so if you are looking to stay in London between July and September, then get online at 9pm sharp.
What if I can't get a £1 room?
Once the £1 rooms are sold out for a particular night the next cheapest is £29, still not a particularly bad price for a room in London.
P.S. This discussion was originally started by the poster immediately below. This entry has been inserted so I can put an official, fully researched MoneySavingExpert.com explanation at the top. Thank you to louised for spotting the offer.

From experience, its likely that you wont be able to get on the site at 9am. You will just get busy messages, or the system will be sooooo slow, it will show as busy etc. You will then think you are too late. They may then put the rooms on sale at a different time, as they did before!!! I had given in by 9.30, but I believe the sale was delayed till 10!! I would have to check previous posts though!!
My experience says keep trying!! But 5.30pm was very very optimistic!!!
These will sell within minutes!! How many MSERs will pay £1 for a night in London!! Even if you cant go its worth the risk!!
The rooms look really nice. I really fancy it!!
Sos but dont hold your breath!! But GOOD LUCK!!ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷0 -

I stayed here in January with my hubby in the £1 room as we did a theatre break. Can't praise it enough. Huge room with the internet too (great to find a good place to eat that night). The hotel is right near a tube station so you're only minutes from the very centre. They also have cards in the room of what they call the 'Hoxton mile' all good places to visit/eat/drink within a mile of the hotel.0
