  • Sorry that today has been rubbish spend wise.
    But:
£350 is cheaper than a new car
No idea how much false teeth cost....
Surely mr Delta couldn't eat much due to the riot canal, so think of that a a saving ;)

    Wise words WishIWas25! Thanks :)

I have a confession as well.... I splashed out on new running kit. Proper leggings and top. I look like a real runner now (apart from my speed!). I ordered it before the teeth and car news and could return it but would lose the postage (and I really don't want to!). So am considering it an investment in my healthy habit - and I felt blooming awesome running in my new threads today :D

Next week we're off on holiday which will be frugal in a weird way as all paid for and spending money stashed. So looking forward to it!

    Happy weekend everyone!

Oops, once again I have been AWOL.

Not too much to report from a MFW point of view, we're ticking along on one income, things are a bit tight but manageable. Mr Delta's well into his college course, the Small has started school and is enjoying it, all is pretty good. My running is going well and I'm doing a 10k this weekend and a 10k next weekend as well as the weekend after!

Thought I would have a little review of the goals made in July....

    - pay back at least another £200 to parents and in-laws - £50 done - hopefully more by the end of the year
    - reduce mortgage term by another month by the end of the year - nearly there, need another £20 ish in the OP pot and then should be able to do this
    - 10 NSD per month from now on - will start to keep note again - still rubbish at keeping track but I'm definitely better than I was
    - lose 7lbs (aim = 10 st 7 lbs) - DONE - I did then put 3 back on DOH! But they will be gone again soon, I look and feel very different, I like it! I feel strong and fit and the running is also really good head space and therapy, I saw something online that described running as "meditation through movement" which I love.
    - complete 10k in November in 80 minutes or less - will report back on this! I SHOULD do it. In fact I have the aim of 70 minutes in my head so....fingers crossed
    - get to £500 in emergency fund - DONE

    Have updated signature.

Will endeavour to update this more often as well as it really does help keep my head more in the game. Christmas is coming as well and the shopping for that has begun so a frugal frame of mind is absolutely essential!

Hope that everyone is keeping well.

Just called mortgage co to get outstanding balance and now it's £66,526.91. So the capital has reduced by £869.69 in 2.5 months. This makes me feel more motivated to get some more overpayments sorted and get that reducing faster!

its so motivating seem the figure fall isn't it. And fantastic on the running. Seriously impressed. Wish I could be motivated to give it a go!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Thanks Watty, that's really kind of you to say :)

Sooooo motivational! Hopefully this time next month we will have reduced the term by another month.

  • Once again I have been terrible at keeping this updated, and it really shows as eye has been WELL off the ball!!

The good news is running related - I did my first 10k in under 7 minutes (1 hour 9 minutes) and then a week later my second 10k in 1 hour 7 minutes. Very pleased!

Also good news - although accidentally! - on the bank of in-laws front - paid them back another £300. This was a little accidental as I actually clicked the wrong recipient on my online banking (what a prat!) but really good to have another chunk off that - have updated signature.

Bad news....is that I crashed the car. This will cost the £500 that we had earmarked to reduce the mortgage term by a month. BUT looking on the bright side it was me -v- ice and a crash barrier. No one else involved. No one hurt. And at least we have that money to use.

    But still....bit gutting really.

We're getting sorted for Christmas. We need to have a proper stock take and see what else we need to get but we have £275 in the "Christmas fund" account that had BETTER cover it! Should be fine. And soooo looking forward to Christmas! The Small is reaching a fever pitch of excitement already!

Apart from all the money side of things life is pretty good. I had my birthday last month which was a weird one in a way. I think I don't cope well with mid decades (35) as with the big numbers ending in a 0 there is lots of fuss and woo hoo and all that....but this birthday I struggled a little. Partly on the "this time last year" thing as things were very different - Mr Delta wasn't redundant, I was very much hoping to be pregnant etc. And this year we are on one income, baby plans on hold for a while, my brain broke and I kind of gave myself 2014 to get my !!!! together....so it was a sort of stock-taking moment. BUT for all the naval gazing actually had a lovely day and things are good. Maybe not where I thought I would be but everything happens for a reason.

So yeah, just checking in really.

2015 needs to be a bit more frugal than 2014 has been - especially trips away and new clothes and boots. But 2015 will also be the first full year of actually really robust mental health and physical fitness in my life. So...yeah...bring it on!!! (and I have FABULOUS new boots to strut through it in!)
