Nationwide Cash Card Account

Debutante

Thanks to the forum I applied yesterday evening for a Nationwide Cash Card account. To my surprise I was accepted but in my excitement I did not read in detail what type of card I am going to get.
Could anyone who has one of these accounts tell me what type of card it is please? Am I able to use it for online purchases?
Also, what are the pros and cons of this account. I noticed I would get online banking but any other benefits or downsides?
Many thanks
Edit: is it an ordinary current account? I want to link it to PayPal and they only accept current accounts

I used to have a cash card with one of my NW accounts. At some point they replaced all cash cards with some sort of debit card with limited functionality, e.g. UK only usage (withdrawals?).
Recently I upgraded it to FlexDirect, so don't remember all details.
ETA: found the old card - it was Visa DEBIT, but called "cash card +".
The account itself was a normal current account.

I had already checked the site and it did not specify the card type that is why I asked the question.
Thanks for your useful informative friendly welcoming post.0 -

I am not sure about the differences between the different types of Visa cards, I have seen references about the opening numbers on the cards which tell you what type it is. I have also read that some of them cannot be used in situations where they need pre-approval such as at petrol pumps. Time for some more research !0 -
I have a cash card account with one of the large high street banks and the card I have is a Visa debit card which can be used for exactly the same things as a debit card for any other account.
The only difference in accounts is that my cash card account has no O/D facility but everything else is the same as any other bank account.0 -

You obviously didn't look very hard On the page where it tells you the benefits of the account, it includes:

That said, I find the information on Nationwide website not clear as I am pretty sure my card could be used in any UK ATMs, not just for withdrawing cash at PO.
Re petrol pumps, it's almost definitely an 'online' card that is unlikely to work.0
