    Thanks for that. Order placed...
  • With these soundbars, is there enough channel separation to get a meaningful Left and Right sound and even centre sound?

Yes, they work very well as a one box solution for people who don't want trailing wires and speakers dotted about the room.

I'm not so sure about the ones costing £100-£200 though! ;)

Premium product with a premium price!

(Bose don't seem to be in any danger of going out of business, so plenty of people in their "right mind" must be still purchasing their expensive products!:p )

This is supposed to be a "moneysaving site"??............Bose gear?...watching their adverts always reminds me of the Hans Christian Andersen epic "The Emperor's New Clothes":rotfl:

Yes, I only posted the link at the behest of the poster who asked the price. I agree that an excellent sound bar can be purchased with all the features of the Bose for about half the price.
However, I think the "budget" versions linked to in this thread are generally poor quality and are not therefore a true "moneysaving" option either.

Merely a micky take my request and subsequent 'order'.

My Samsung HT-E550 tall boy system is far superior to Sound Bars which retail at £350 (the price I paid for said system) or below for reasons I outlined in an earlier post on the thread.

If physical space to accommodate such a traditional surround sound system is an issue, I fail to see the point in buying a Sound Bar.

You make it seem like you think sound bars are something of a gimmick, but I think the reason they have become so popular is that there is a definite demand for a sound system without the clutter of extra speakers and wiring. The improvements in the technology used to create these sound bars is there to be heard. People aren't buying these as expensive doorstops, they really are a vast improvement over the sound provided by most television integral speakers.
