Put me down for £1,000 as I'm sure I can make an extra £20 per week for a year.

Admittedly, I'm looking forward to spending it rather than saving it but the money should go a long way towards making the improvements I wish to make to my LR.
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500
  • Hi SF

I'd like to jump onboard please - my plan is to finish off the mortgage by April this year and then start saving so I'll be a bit of a slow starter but please put me down for £12k for the year. Hopefully I will achieve a bit more but I may need to do some celebrating when the mortgage is done and dusted!.

    Thanks AG :)

I'm planning on mopping up the last bit of my mortgage by March this year too, Anna. Here's to both of us being mortgage free in April!

Hello, is it too late to join?

I took part in the 2012 thread but only made it to September because of personal issues. Financially 2013 was a bit of a write off for the same reasons but I'm really keen to get back into MSE and would love to save 12k this year. I was a LOT better with my money when I was active on here and it was nice to have something to aim for.

It won't be easy but my earnings are much better than in 2012 and I'm due nearly two years of back pay on the 15th due to a recent pay rise which I plan will all go into savings so that should at least give me a nice start.

I'm finally getting back on track and sorting out my finances - I'm in the process of moving my current account to first direct for their regular saver but I'll also get a bonus £100 for switching which can go into savings too :).
    Finally bought a home

I would also like to join in! (I've just filled in the spread-sheet- hope that was the right thing to do.) This will be a joint effort between DH and me.

Aiming to save £8000 towards our house deposit this year and will start the ball rolling with £400 transfer in DH's ISA today :)

    Good luck everybody!

    Hi everyone.

Can I join, I hope to aim for £6000 again this year. I only hit 53% of my target last year. My OH is working temporarily and hoping to be permanent. So a little uncertainty but I think £6000 is a good target for me.

    Thank you :)

I've updated the spreadsheet and front page, so please make a note of your challenge number :)

A little point about the update form:
Please ONLY use that at the end of a month, to submit the TOTAL of your savings during a month e.g. January.

It'll be very confusing very quickly if people use it to keep adding to their total - it's your responsibility to keep count of what you're saving ;)

    Does that make sense? :o:o

Our target, as a whole group of amazing people, so far is:
    £1,338,800.00

  • Is it too late to join in? I'm new to all of this, so am not sure what to do. I want to aim for £4,800 saved this year, to help towards a deposit for a flat and at the same time am trying to clear my credit card.

2014 has to be the year!

    :D
  • Well I'm off to a good start, £100 to be paid in tomorrow, although only £50 will be savings as I need to buy a new coat with the other £50 (the remainder once I've found the coat will go into savings).

Also, and I don't know if this is annoying or helpful yet, the choir I'm in has decided to up the fees and I'm not sure if it is worth the additional £75 a year I would need to find. I'll be trying out a different one during the spring so I might be able to add the old choir fees to savings and would have an extra £225 for the year :)

hope everyone else gets off to good starts!
