I've just paid of my mortgage from my "Save a pound a day" tin, and hit my annual saving target a month early.
Out tonight to celebrate my mortgage-free status with a posh meal and a bottle of champers. It's been a long while coming, so tonight is not the night for saving! :j  :j
PS Sorry for all the dizzying emoticons, but today is one of those days when they are deserved! (:D )
:T:T:T Huge Congratulations :T:T:T.
Well done. I hope you really enjoyed your celebration meal.0 -

I have a very long way to go before getting a deposit together (I do own my flat but shared equity so I'm kind of doing it backwards - got the flat, now saving the deposit!) I like hearing the inspiring stories of others, they just spur me on even more!
I started saving around the time I joined MSE, almost 8 years ago. I should have started sooner (when I started working), but I had 3-4 years of spending frivolously - it was a novelty to have money after graduating! So I won't be too hard on myself.

Ok sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but can you include money that's in a current account? If so its money from just one of my current account that I want to include and therefore I would reach my target.
Last year I only counted money that I put into my savings accounts towards my target.0 -
If it is money you have saved between 1st January and 31st December 2014 it can be countedMortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Everyone is going great guns!! Well done gang, impressive totals!!
So, it's finally time for a payday update!!
Managed to squirrel away £800 this month, largely thanks to a nice chunk of overtime from work and being very strict/sensible with the dreaded Christmas budget!!
So, this brings my total to £8,500 so far...
£1500 is going to be a big ask next month, although I have requested monetary gifts from close family this year, as there's really nothing I 'need'... That plus a bit of overtime... I might just get there by the skin of my teeth!!! Positive vibes!!
Congrats to all on the updates, especially wentthedaywell? On becoming mortgage-free!! Brilliant!!
Love to all,

#209 reporting in.
I've just submitted my spreadsheet update for Novembers savings.
It's been a good month, we saved £2,766 from our regular schedule and had an unexpectded work bonus which has gone straight into the savings fund.
We are currently at £10,291 for the year and have updated our target to 12.5k by end of December.
So in the big scheme of things we are £10,291 in to our long term target of £45k by March 2016. Only £34,709 to go ...
Great news on breaking the Million mark and already Slowly Fading has them queing for the new 2015 challenge ... well done everyone !!!!

Got a surprise PPI cheque in last week for £2574.00 from MBNA
They rejected my claim in 2012 and I never thought any more about it, received letter followed by a cheque last week with the great news..
I've now smashed my target in 1 month with this + my year end dividends, happy days.Save 12k in 2014 member 056
