Vodafone are riding high at the moment, mostly on the back of the upcoming Verizon selloff and potential takeover of the post Verizon Vodafone.
So whats the answer, sell all now, sell some now and hedge your bets or hang on and weather the storm?

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Clearly there's an element of bid speculation in the price. If it materialises it could take shares north of 250p....280p has been suggested (but shareholding will be reduced by 50% after Vz deal/cash).
FWIW I've been holding out for 235-240p in current format but am comfortable with holding if it doesn't achieve this.0 -
Hold and wait. Too early to judge the future.0

i am holding.0

It still fits in to my screening parameters so I will be holding it for the time being.0

The outcome of the Verizon deal leaves things a little bit messy for shareholders. If you have a large enough holding thats fine but may not by worth the trouble if you only have a few hundred pounds of shares.0

I favour holding them has I believe that the deal will go ahead. I have reservations however about the implications post deal.
True, a smaller Vodaphone could be ripe for plucking by a bigger brother but the prospect of holding Verizon, (if this is possible for ME), is not someting that I particularly relish.
I hold Vod in an ISA and folks over on The Fool have indicated that my broker will only allow shares that are listed on the LSE to be eligible for inclusion in their ISAs.
I will await further info in January and adopt the Christmas presents approach, buy (or in this case sell), on Christmas eve.0 -
US shares can be held in ISAs.
the small VW holding is not going to be ideal, but i am still going to hold. for now.0 -
They can? didnt know that
For selling, taking out the original stake leaves a no risk option on any further rises. It depends on the percentage cost to selling a foreign share, not all brokers are friendly to this.
iii changed rules so they could get 50% of my dividend the bandits and it was every quarter they did that as foreign shares pay this often usually0 -

Yep they sure can: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/isa/faqs.htm#24shares listed on the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, German companies listed on the DAX, and shares traded on the other big markets around the world are all eligible.
Foreign shares in an ISA: http://monevator.com/foreign-shares-in-an-isa/
(edit: this article is before the ban on companies that trade on the AIM market was lifted)US shares can be held in ISAs.
I think steady_eddie is referring to his broker not allowing any other shares in his S&S ISA apart from those listed on the LSE to be eligible as opposed to S&S ISA rules -steady__eddie wrote: »I hold Vod in an ISA and folks over on The Fool have indicated that my broker will only allow shares that are listed on the LSE to be eligible for inclusion in their ISAs.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0
