Got back from Camber last night - came home early as we didn't like the apartments - no privacy, no doors on the wardrobes, had to either have curtains drawn all the time or put up with ppl gawping at you as they walked past - we didn't arrive til late on Monday night due to traffic - couldn't bear the rubbish that was littered all outside the chalets - the french group of ppl above us were awful as were the ppl opposite - never been on holiday before where the police have had to be called - the entertainment was ok - we had the breakfast in the restaurant on tuesday and brought our own stuff for the rest of the time - the food we had looked and tasted like it had been there a few days! The beach - lovely but so so windy!! lasted about 10 mins before we had to go as the sand was just blowing in kids eyes too much. The apartment was basic, had what we needed except something other than a dustpan and brush might have been better especially when you have kids - crumbs etc and sand everywhere. Bathroom was ok but you had to remember to completely dress before opening the door as you were exposed - Overall - I wouldn't recommend it and I wouldn't go back there - might go to a different one as entertainment good for the kids but Camber was not my scene - (oh, and dd came down with chicken pox on wed night which put a dampner on it too!!) Thanks again to OP though - it took us to a part of the country that we would probably never have visited otherwise.

Just back from Camber too. I think we were the opposite end to you. We saw the police too. I am grateful for the free holiday and kids enjoyed themselves. My daughter entered the starquest last night in the 5 to 7 .

we must have been in a quiet part of Camber apartments. We had no bother apart from the seagulls! Had quite a nice break - our apartment was okay apart from the carpet and settee and we had to wash everything before using it. But as I was prepared - it was fine. DD won the freestyle dance comp so we may (depending on how we feel) go to brean at end of Nov.

Shame we never knew who any other mser's were - hope most had an okay time.

hi guys, weve just got home from southport and im sooooo glad, really gratefully to have been given the chance to get away for free so cant complain 'bout that but what i can complain about is how bloody dirty it is! our chalet was filthy it was discusting on the walls we had obscene words written, carpets were black and bare in places and we had lots of spiders as visitors over the week,we spent what seemed like hours cleaning and the smell-im not even sure what it smelt of! well after 3/4 of a bottle of frebreeze and a good scrub we were ready to explore,my little lad (20 months) was very upset as the indoor play area was closed on the first day and he was too small for the over 5's one outside, cheered him up by seeing a notice for photos with postman pat on wednesday-only he never turned up and after finding a member of staff they said there is no postman pat!! the notice had been up since monday how could they all have missed it? food wise the best place was the pub but only if they got your order correct and you didnt mind waiting 40 minutes, tables full of dirty plates at times when the staff were all standing chatting to each other, entertainment was good though we were pleasently surprised, all in all its very tired and i wouldnt pay what some people we met had payed at all, many thanks to op still though

We have just got back from Camber, room was clean but carpets and furniture was very dated/stained:mad: . Not quite up to Butlins standard but as it was a freebie it was well appreciated.

We saw the police also, anyone know what happened?

Big big thank you to the OP as i hadn't planned to go away this year as money is a bit tight and kids had a lovely time.

    Cheers, Cheers:beer:

We got back from Camber sands today too. We saw the Police but did not know what was going on. We had a great time, the kids loved it, went abseiling, rifle shooting, areoball, trampolining, dodge ball etc. The chalet was clean and tidy although no doors on the wardrobe, but hey for free it was fantastic. We did not think to much of the food so bought food fromthe shop and cooked most days. Only watched the entertainment a couple of nights, cant remember what is was the first night but last night four men had to be dressed up as women and act like women. The kids left at this point to go down to the amusements but I thought it was funny. We were in block 340- 380, there were three families with us and we all enjoyed the break. Many thanks again to Op.
