Think yourself lucky that you actually know who it is. Our "department" is made up of 10 teams that have almost nothing to do with each other and are spread over 4 offices and 2 cities.

One of our team has picked someone with an indian name who none of us know and googling says it can be a male or female name so cant even be sure of gender and alcohol would be a risky gift :(

Buy a gift voucher - one of those that can be used at multiple stores.

As for multitools - a good suggestion, but quality is important - frankly a simple one well made beats one covered in toys but poor quality.

Personally I'd thank you for some fine cold-cuts of best ham from Waitrose and maybe some decent chocolates too.

Typically, guys will appreciate quality, so whatever you get, get a good one

Set of mini-screwdrivers and a pack of AA batteries - they will come in handy for all the children's toys that his son will doubtless receive for Christmas. We're not really into DIY, but do find mini-screwdrivers handy for this kind of thing.

I know! Get him a DVD box-set of The Sweeney, Monkey, Minder or The Professionals and he'll be chuffed.

    something like this http://www.buyagift.co.uk/Gifts/Unique-Gifts/Adopt-a-Monkey-BR-11313224.aspx?cm_sp=Product_List-_-3-_-11313224&cm_re=11313224-_-3-_-Product_List
if you use the name of a phone company that has fone in it it will give you 20% off which would mean you getting it for 13.60 or comedy for 12

    or one of these http://www.buyagift.co.uk/Days-Out-BN-11wZ16v83.aspx?SqNo=11wZ16v83&cm_sp=Sort_By-_-Price:%20Low%20To%20High-_-Product_List&cm_re=Product_List-_-Price:%20Low%20To%20High-_-Sort_By&Ns=CurrentRetailPrice&No=0

as you can get it under a tenner and if they don't like it they can change it like my mate did when she couldn't make it to silverstone so swapped it to a tour of old trafford

Either a bottle of wine, or a few bottles of interesting beer. A new beer shop has just popped up in the market here which sells all kinds of interesting varieties from all over the world and it's been my one-stop male shop.

I bought my mail boss a 'gettingpersonal' card ( just google)
and put it in a pounland frame . It looked nice, but if you have a bigger budget a clip frame may be better. He's into football , so I got him one htat had a football stand showning his name in it. They also do personalised note books - loads of different styles

He was so chuffed , and it was the easiest secret santa ever.

Despatch is really quick , so you may still have time

If you can divulge the name I might have an inkling.

you dont have to take part. i think its waste, especially if you don't know the likes/dislikes of the person you get to buy for.
