Lottery tickets. May not win,but it's the thrill that he might.
Does he like real ale? You can get selected ones in Aldi like Skinners Betty Stoggs or Sheppeys vintage cider around £1.59 or even Bank's bitter for a £1 a bottle.0 -
My husband's favourite ever Secret Santa gift was a set of stress relieving magnets. Five years on, and he still plays with them! They're brilliant.
Don't know if I can post links to stuff on ebay, but they are like these ones - item 221119734638
And very cheap - so you could also get something to go with. What about some personalised chocolate, or a personalised drinks coaster for his desk. They're all available on good ole fleabay

Dove Body Lotion & Shower Gel set at Superdrug for £3 instead of £6. My OH suggested this for our secret santa (£5 limit, we are public sector after all!) as it is something she would be very happy getting. Then, if you need to make it up to £10, a bottle of Cava as well. Better than a bit of Christmas branded tat, never to be used.
Sorry miss-read OP, thought it was for a female co-worker0 -
As above, some sort of multi-tool
like this - http://www.red5.co.uk/gift-finder/recipient/gifts-for-him/10-in-1-credit-card-multitool.aspx
or just choose something else from a gadget site

I would go for Little Vics's idea.
Your uncle is talking rubbish. My husband would most certainly appreciate GOOD £10 a bottle wine more then me as I just drink any plonk while he actually knows something about the stuff.
Or do as Ricchie says - drop hints. Ask his immediate colleagues (next to his workstation). Search his Facebook (if you/him have one).
If all else fails - Nice wine, if unsure of which kind, champers!0 -
As a man, I wouldn't mind a bottle of wine or the chocs, thank you very much!
Though I must say I don't like Secret Santa stuff - and being told to spend £10 on a work colleague who I don't really know is not good in my book.0
