Office Secret Santa

My office are doing secret santa again this year and we have to spend 10 pounds. I have the only man in my office and have no idea what to get as were going for nice presents. We all gave each other hints and his hints were something to use, something to consume and a gift rather than a present. I am really stuck I don't want to waste my money buying something he doesn't want but have no idea what to buy. Any ideas?

To be honest bit stressed by it as am getting married in January so am organising that at moment as well.

I'd go for a good bottle of wine, or some high-end chocolates (Hotel Chocolate have some good stuff), or something like that.

Who are you buying for? How well do you know them?

I bought someone a brush set and got the same person the next year when I was running it so got them a mini glitter lava lamp that ran on batteries. In the 3rd year I got the office manager so get her a wooden photo frame as she had a daughter and thought she may like to put a photo of her on her desk.

The people I worked with only wanted to do £5 were a few thought £10 was better so and on all occasions I spent more than £5. I got cheapo toiletries (which I would never buy for anyone as I sensitive skin) and a naff plated necklace from ASDA all of which I chucked in the bin.

    Don't men drink wine then?

Just go for wine and expensive choccies - job done.

Or a nice desk diary / desk tidy - Rymans have a few.

I think you're overthinking this... anyway, it is a 'secret' so what have you got to lose?

If you know the girl drinks wine and the company do not have a policy where you can not have booze on the premises.

  • Multi tool. Blokes love multi tools.
  • Do you know what any of his interests are outside of work?

Does he like film? - Voucher for cinema?

Music? - i-tunes voucher? CD, or mps's? (depends how well you know him, his music taste and know what he has)

Running/sport - fancy water bottle/reflective vest, or other "useful" item or team memorabilia?

Fashion? - hat, scarf, gloves, or tie?

Eating/dining - some fancy chutney/jam/honey/other (maybe Xmasey condiment/condiment set? Cranberry sauce or brandy butter), fancy chocolate, or a bottle of wine?

    Gardening - seeds, or plant.

Reading - book, or book voucher (again voucher prob. best here unless you know him well enough to know what he's read/has)
