Shortie brown rice is more filling than white, I think because it takes longer to chew
Lol sparrer, it was a ready meal to reheat in the microwave but it was definately not chewy :-P Unlike years ago when I made it and put myself off the stuff - it wasn't even chewy, it was almoat still hard lol!
Buuut I must say I was impressed - it kept me going (along with a satsuma) and I'm only rwally now starting to feel hungryApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Sorry for not posting for ages life really does get in the way of frugal living lol but have done our best no sorry Ive done my best to make sure spends have been at a minimum. Hopefully come the end of the month it should all break even-ish, but Im not going to get too despondent if it doesn't because if I do the chances are I just think to hell with it & spend all the more!0

Hiya Frugalites!! xxx
Been sooo long! I have a new laptop so am able to get back online regularly again.
So, April has been ridiculously expensive. The good thing is that money has been spent on some lovely family celebrations (Mothers Day, Mum's 70h Birthday, Easter and a night out) so I've just thrown my hands up and got stuck into it all.
Have managed a few NSDs over the last few days so I just need to reel self in until the end of the month. Good old meal planning, getting creative with what's in the fridge and freezer etc.
Haven't checked through what I've missed here yet - hope everyone is doing OK?? Missed you all and this lovely supportive thread!

and the have been esconced in 'pods' and rhubarb plot!
MMM strawberry jam maybe i'm in dream mode!
Spent 26.89 in aldilly, mainly because I found condensed milk and it makes lovely fudge topping on brownies and thats DS's favourite treat! Doesn't leave me much money in my food challenge..just over £1! Hopefully I can make a few pennies before I have to spend any more!!

Skinty - it is good to see you back
Work today, and started handover. Still lots of random other stuff as well though. Got stressed going through hundreds of emails, even though I had sneakily been through while I was on leave and deleted the real dross
Still, I am counting down the days remaining now
Not a NSD, as I bought some chocs for my team at work
Not sure if OH has spent anything - he has spent the day helping out DD1 and her OH on a project, which is nice, as he doesn't get that much time to spend with her, as she lives some distance away. He isn't back yet, and I am off to bed in a minute. Oh well...0 -
Evening everyone
Had a chocolate craving whilst leaving work today, really fancied some mini eggs! Popped to the nearest store but they had run out, so I picked up a Malteaser bunny instead and when I was at the till it had been marked down to 30pwas pleased with the price, but I really shouldn't of had it as I'm trying to lose weight! Very unlike me to crave chocolate though, so I'm not too worried!
Popped to the co*p a few hours later with my dad for essential bits and stumbled across some B*yliss & H*rding gift sets that had been heavily reduced! I picked up two of the same set and they were marked at just £2 each..checked receipt and they were actually just £1.75 a set! These sets are the ones you'd usually find for at least around £8 if not more?!
My mum was quite impressed and might get my dad to pick up a couple more tomorrow if there's some left! We're putting them away for upcoming birthdays. Very pleased with the price!0 -

Oohh, painful needing a new laptop Skinty, but sounds like you've had some lovely times out this month
We've been having a Queen-fest since the weekend whenever in the car. DS2 (6 years old) keeps asking for the "Wayne's World" song to be put back so that he can drum and head bang as we drive along, lol :rotfl:April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Thanks for all the welcomes, spreadsheet and spends diary sourced, set up and running:p.
PS. I only iron if absolutely necessary - eg an interview :rotfl:
Lx
Re the ironing, I think i have finally found like minded individuals, mine is only out for weddings, funerals, christenings and interviews otherwise i will crinkle with pride.... Its fashion don't you knowlovefullshelves wrote: »Thankyou everyone for the lovely birthday wishes x I got my DVDand it was wrapped in birthday paper
And egg and cress sandwiches:D (not wrapped in birthday paper!) And birthday money, a winning scratchcard, and a trip to a toy fair and animal sanctuary! And it cost me nowt!!!
Perfect..and back to work tomorrow! More potatoes to plant!
xx
Had some spends in the shops for salad, bread and juice also had a naughty shop at the sweet shop on some nougat. Have separated food and food treats on my spreadsheet to try and put me off buying so much yummy but not so healthy for me food.
Hoping to be both Frugal and Fit before the years out rather than the frugal frump in resendence......:rotfl:
Done my Nectar adpoints, now off to swagbucks & p2s before bed.

Evening everyone,
Many thanks for the kind words following my aunts death, very much appreciated.
Well its payday for me on Friday, so, for me at least, that is the start of the month. I am determined to have a frugal month...April has been bit 'meh' on the frugal front, seem to allowed my self to get into the habit of buying food at work...dispite bringing in my own...this MUST stop! (waist line is also suffering!)
Tomorrow is a day off so i'm going to have a good sort out through my cupboards & freezer and then try and meal plan to run them down.
On a slightly more exciting note....I have an appointment with a mortgage adviser in the afternoon....I am scared I will be laughed out the door, but I will hopefully be enlightened to the where, how & how much involved.

Best of luck with the mortgage advisor today Merry
So for me today I have hm instant porridge for breakfast, a RTC warm in the microwave lunch and satsumas. Just realised I've forgotten my apple - doh! Maybe it'll be two satsumas I have two in work at the mo
In work today and tomorrow and then off on Friday as DS1 has another op. Need to have a think about what food to take with us so that we don't spend out unnecessarily on food while thereApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500
