Evening everyone
Had a really nice time in London yesterday for my birthday
We went into St Pauls Cathedral, walked across the Millenium Bridge and back, and went to the Museum of London.
Lovely sunny day, too
Of course, being London, it's not cheap.
Mr GG was able to use his Senior Railcard to get a third off his train fare, and he was able to go into St Pauls and the Jewel exhibition at the museum as a concession, so got a couple of quid shaved off the entrance fees.
But it's the price of refreshments that's mind boggling. We didn't have a meal, but had a coffee each and shared a pack of sandwiches at St Pauls for £9.10, and at the museum had another coffee each and a piece each of millionaires shortbread for £10.90. So that's £20 on a couple of snacks
Yes, we could have taken our own, but on this occasion didn't. But as we go into retirement, there's lots of days out that we'd like to do, so we'll take our own lunch sometimes, and also make use of our National Trust membership to get free admission on some attractions
But it was a lovely day out, and I'm glad we did it.
To make up for it, today was NSD, and I'm hopeful the next couple of days will be tooEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Thank you DawnW!
I'll chuck them in the freezer!! Yay! It would have seriously upset me to have to chuck them out so that's great stuff - can't wait to squeeze them out their skins
Just sitting here fuming slightly as I spent since 4pm cooking and OH hasn't touched his supper except eaten the pieces of meat.:mad::mad::mad:

Catch Up Time
Not much happening at the table top sale - only spent £6 in total including the entrance fee
We enjoyed the walks and Geocached on the way home :j
This aft, we hit Tescos and I was really pleased with what we got for our £55.
All in all, a lovely day"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Afternoon!
Today is a work day and my turn for team milk, so a small spend on 2 pints today which should last us the week, and I have had my breakfast and lunch from home
Still starring intermittently at my budgetting and saving etc plans in the vain hope that something will change in front of my eyes to answers all my building work queries. You live in hope eh ? :rotfl:April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Spendy couple of days for me....treated myself to a few bits with my pocket money yesterday so don't have any more left for the rest of the month!
Today had to run some errands, which included going to tesco for some milk, and ended up spending £10
Only going to spend £1 tomorrow for dd's toddler group, and hopefully a NSD wednesday.
Suddenly realised I'm 30 weeks pregnant, and DD came just before 36 weeks, so i'm thinking I need to get organised! I think we have got all the big bits, so only a few little bits left to buy. Will try to do that after OH gets paid so all is ready....need to start looking out for presents for DD's birthday too as that's next month as well!
Sounds like I have a spendy month coming up, luckily I have a pot for xmas and birthdays so can use that for dd's birthday.
On a plus note, I've started knitting scarves for christmas presentsthat's about the limit of my knitting skills, so hoping they will be appreciated!
Hope everyone's having a good Monday - I've got to work this eveningDebt FREE thanks to YNAB0 -
Hi all, good day here, managed to do my shopping in M*rris*ns this morning, spent just over £40 to get the last payback voucher so next week I take my 3 vouchers and get £10 off a £40 spend. You also get a voucher for 10p of a litre of fuel, will be useful for later in the month when I need to fill up again.
I've got some banana's in the freezer so will get them out one day this week and make banana bread.Grocery Challenge 2024

Evening all
Work meeting in L*ndon today, and another tomorrow.
Wednesday will seem like Friday, that's for sure
Still, I got home at a reasonable time (won't happen tomorrow though)
Leftover Thai chicken pieces with veg for supper
No spends today as tickets for the train and tube were booked at work, and free lunch provided at the meeting
Lit the woodburner, so 'free' coffee coming up, as the kettle is boiling away nicely
Then a bath and early night I think!0 -

Ok so 2nd day of my 14 day work schedule is over and I'm wrecked....this is not going to be pleasant :rotfl:
Have had an omelette for tea to use up some left overs in the fridge save them ending up in the bin, just leaves some cauliflower to use up so will have that tomorrow with cheese.
Has anyone switched their heating off yet? Mine's been off for the last week and I'm planning for it not to go back on until at least November. Everyone at work thinks I'm mad and pokes fun at me for switching heating off early so not sure if I'm being frugal or mean now
Heading off to bed now, might take a hot chocolate up with me if I can be bothered to boil the kettle :rotfl:0 -

I'm thinking of switching ours off this week. Had it off for the weekend as both me and the flatmate were away, and didn't notice that it was cold when I got back last night. I wouldn't worry about what other people think, my flatmate thinks I'm nuts because I rearranged all the kitchen plugs so it was easier to switch off all the appliances when they're not used (not sure a kettle uses much power on 'standby' but not risking it... Microwave definitely does with its little digital clock!) .New graduate trying to get debt-free.

I never turn my heating off. I leave the thermostat set to 18 all year, and if the natural ambient temperature in my hallway's that or higher it just doesn't kick in. I know it's still warming up a bit in the mornings as I notice it slightly from the hall radiator when I come downstairs, but I'm not so sure it's still warming up in the evenings (if it is then it's certainly not as much as it was a few weeks ago).Cheryl0
