    Evening All,

Had a day of cooking. Quick question - how dead does veg have to be before you all DON'T use it?

    Thanks

  • A while back someone posted a recipe for weetabix brownies (it was either here or the GC thread). I had a go at them tonight and despite the mix looking more like those chocolate cereal 'cakes' they came out very nice! Just a bit more texture than a standard brownie (but then I make mine extremely soft and fudgy usually) and can only tell it's weetabix if you hit a bit I didn't break up enough! The OH has declined to try them though :p

Macwah - if it's gone slimy or has obvious mould I won't eat it. If it's just soft then all the easier to throw in a stew/chilli etc.

    Sorry - bit disjointed tonight

Does anyone have a basic recipe for naan or pitta bread? Made Lentil Dhal Curry last night and have some over but not enough - iykwim. Thought I could bulk it out for OH and I as a dinner later this week -children are ok with it but not really fussed with the lentils - they still ate it!!

OK thanks for the veg solution - I tend to use it other than mould or slime - in fact if a carrot is slimey it gets washed - still slimey - compost- LOL

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Re phones, my mobile is good for phone calls and sends/receives text messages - it's also a camera and radio but I have those at home and don't need them in the supermarket, out with friends and so on. I buy a £10 card about once every 7/8 weeks, don't bother with apps, games etc., etc., because I don't have time. Sometimes I think technology can go a little too far. I'm sure I'll get shot down in flames for that one but it saves me money, I find my little basic phone fine for my needs and it's just my humble opinion :)

Out for a pub lunch with friends, I always choose from the junior menu and as there are usually about 5 or 6 of us the landlady never minds. A dinner, pud and soft drink cost me half of what my friends pay from the main menu and it's more than enough for me. I always do my shopping before we meet which saves petrol.
  • NSD today :j friend gave OH some eggs, how lovely.

Used up freezer food today, roast turkey from Xmas, yorkshires, roast potatoes, roast veg all lurking in the freezer and a small crumble for OH. Found some type if lasagna for OH supper, thought it was quiche.....
I have even created a meal plan for this week. I did an inventory from the freezers so I want to start emptying 1 as it is in the conservatory and needs to be off before the weather gets much hotter.
Even OH thinks it's a good idea to use the food up. I will convert him yet. ;)
Have more freezer food planned for tomorrow as we are eating at different times I can use up the odds and sods:D made a fish pie today whilst I had the roast potatoes cooking. Feeling very virtuous.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, the sun was really welcoming today.

4 crumbled weetabix, 50g sugar, 2 tbsp cocoa, 100g butter, 1 egg, 100g dark chocolate.

Melt butter and chocolate together, add dry ingredients and beaten egg. 30 mins at 180c/ gas 4.

Can't find the original post but it was another MSE person who posted the recipe a little while back.

    Seventh Anniversary Combo Breaker
    Hi Everyone!

2nd NSD in a row... Went to the gym (which is free!) and nearly at the bottom of my bath foam/using as a shower gel! Delighted to use it up as usually them bottles are gifted to me and sit at the end of my shower never used!!
Also nearly finished a body lotion. Unheard of for me as I never use the things!! All gifted so no money spent!

I bought a veil for my wedding online for €6.50. My mum got it yesterday and its perfect!!! Stunning is what she said.. I've only seen it on skype but its a massive saving! :)

All b/l/d out of stores today as well. OH brought home milk and bananas so I could have breakfast this morning!

Applied for more jobs and the housework is nearly all done.. Feeling very accomplished today!
