Evening all
NSD for me again today
Lunch to work - I used up the rest of a pot of slightly OOD houmous, with some cut up veg (cucumber, carrot and celery) to dip. It was great, and I am still alive
Sausage, chips and beans for tea, not good for dietbut all from stores.
It was a lovely day so the washing dried out on the line in the garden
On the downside, the train back from work kept stopping and then the bus was nowhere to be seen  Still, the walk did me no harm, and at least it wasn't raining for a change!0 -
Thanks everyone for the suggestions for an app on tablet and phone. I usually use spreadsheets but cannot always project.
I like the enveloping process as I physically envelope when going on holiday and encourage the family to work with me.
Have looked at goodbudget (thanks lHEAD123) but need to be able to shuffle income dates- jury out on this one....will try YNAB next......
any other suggestions are welcome.
On a slightly more upbeat note with OH and his car desires - I suggested contacting a local dealership to enquire about the servicing of desired vehicle to be told that basically this model whilst a near 'classic' local servicing and programming is practically non-existent......so OH nearly content.......;)
OH suggests going to a garage and looking at another car......We did and basically OH has eventually, after all these years started to pick and poke at cars like I do !!! LOL
Let's say there will be no further car purchases - :jLive as cheaply as possible,Current debt £85k (includes mortgage):(,Taxman £7500  bank of FiL 760 Simply B 945 Jacamo 150 Ccs 3000£1 a day Xmas 2015 7/364

Evening frugalites! What's everyone giving up for Lent then? I'm giving up my credit card, it always gets repaid in full every month but I need to get out of the habit of using it - though spent ages today trying to pay off the one thing I bought since the last bill so I start Lent with an empty card, and have been locked out of online banking twice!! Will just have to let it sit there til direct debit clears it at the end of the month. Also giving up Facebook, part of slowly reducing how much time I waste on the internet.New graduate trying to get debt-free.
Make £5/day challenge: August £84.08/155
I owe £5400 (plus £34,000 Student Finance)

No pancakes and no giving up anything for lent here....
In the case of the former it's because I've never been impressed with them, and making them ties me to the kitchen for a lot longer than they're worth
In the case of the latter it's a matter of knowing I'll not stick to anything for more than 48 hours - unless it's something I've already given up such as booze or smokesHowever I am planning to get my exercise schedule up and running properly (started yesterday), so I guess I could claim I'm giving up lethargy

Today I spent £15.90 on some cord, and will need to spend a similar amount in the future but can delay it quite a while. It also gives me something more to think about in the future. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

TVP is definitely NOT quorn! ICK. I live near the quorn factory...and it hums:lipsrseal mmm fungus protein! TVP is made from soy:)
2nd NSd this month today, thats 2 in a row:) but its delivery/shopping day tomorrow so its bound to be spendy as DS is off to the dentist too.
Gonna try to put this months food budget in money bags tomorrow as its spendy anyway then its 'spent' already and I don't have to worry about not having it
No one noticed the TVP in the shepherds pieand thats from 3 meat lovin men! (I feed my best mate once a week so I know he's had a hot meal  and send him home with any treats I can afford, like HM cake or pies.)
No one has commented..or possibly noticed the food budget stuck to the notice board yet..I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who cares about where the money goes!
My aim tomorrow is to NOT go to asda...place your bets now! That means no sliced chicken for DS, no chocolate or icecream for OH. And it means no tinkle for me!!
OH stuck my shiny new soles and heels on my boots for me today
Ho hum off to feed cats and bed!

Well the pancakes were nice. Everything was already in stock so it was a NSD. Still thinking about a butchers visit and how long that will keep me going. My basket for the next online delivery is large but it has been three months since my last order so not doing badly. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

Picklepot, okay so mine was also a classic car but mine was in need or restoration instead if having been restored
So, not to throw the cat amoung the pigeons, and purely from experience... I wouldn't keep a car as an investment. Completely understand regarding sentiment, I'd wanted one of what I had since before I was old enough to drive and it wa heart wrenching to see it go... but.... classic cars are a very niche market and what you may have invsted in the car and what you think it's now worth may not be what you can sell it for. You may in years to cone do fantastically well selling it, but I wouldn't personally see them as an investment (ie instead of an ISA)
Personally, I think you need to work through the emotions if the car sale and not think of it as a future investment. I learnt this the very hard way when I came to sell my pride and joy
Hope that doesn't sound cold, it's a just a practical spin on an emotional sale xx
Thank you for your honesty. It was bought with sentiment DH has been involved in the history of this classic since a teenager. Its value has only become apparent in the past few years when I have made it an excuse not to sell it its me who uses investment as an excuse when really its the whole guilt thing from letting it go:mad:. But as DH says he's had his fun with it and the security of it is now affecting the fun - he's always said that he thinks its sad they are kept under wraps and not used and enjoyed and ours has become that way too.0
