I find that if I barely dunk frozen veg into water (to try and keep some firmness) it's still cold/frozen. Ive even tried steaming it - marginally better, but I still don't like the taste. I actually gag on frozen carrots (other than diced in a mixed assortment), and struggle to eat a portion of broccoli or cauliflower (those are the other three I'd have liked to keep in the freezers).
I don't like any tinned veg either - although I can handle tinned sweetcorn. Oddly, sweetcorn is one that I've only recently started to eat fresh (used to be frozen kernels only)
I thought i was the only one who thought frozen veg had a funny texture ! I too can only eat 'fresh' veg , but then I have had issues with food texture all my lifeVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
Hi everyone
Have had a couple of spending days this week due to friends birthday and running out of milk but I've been good and stuck to buying these things and nothing else.
Good news today, they've agreed overtime at work until the end of March so I'm hoping to work enough hours to pay off one of my loans...not going overboard though and making myself ill.
Dont know if any of you have seen the trailers but there's a program on Food Network tonight at 9pm about people hoarding food and bulk buying, looks like they need help to declutter....think it'll be interesting to see how extreme these people are.0 -
I have no problem with frozen veg. I get a veg box but will still use frozen as a back up.It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

Had a lovely meal out today - 20% off coupon that expires next week and it covered breakfast and lunch. Small dinner (homemade pork burgers) was yummy.
Went shopping on way home from meal out - £23 which should last us a week including the things we already have.0 -
Evening Frugalites x
Just spent bus fare to work today, wanting a NSW(eekend) now!! Lots of food in, need quiet weekend doing uni work so no need to go out!
Finally made an asparagus, goats cheese and tomato puff pastry tart, was lovely! Chuffed with that. Had it with some peas and corn on the cob.
Probably batch cooking this weekend too, lets get the freezer stocked up!2014 Frugal Living Challenge

First attempt at HM pizza tonight and we loved it. Really enjoyed making it too. Cost to make was around £1.70 so saved us around £7 on our usual takeaway pizza.0

Spendy day today. Bought a few treats for my tea.
Went to get a quote to have two x stitch pictures framed for pressies. No bigger than 8 X 6 cost £50!!!! for the pair. Can't afford that so will have to do it myself. Won't be so good but should look ok.
He did ask if I wanted a chair :rotfl: I left muttering I will think about it.
And picking up from a freecycle bod a 3 piece suite yeah!!! might have a living room that looks a bit more like home.

Used up what was in the fridge to make dinner, and a wrinkled apple was turned into crumble with greek yogurt.
My fourth nsd/third npd this week, no plans to go out tomorrow so it'll be 5 and 4 for the week.0 -
Sorry not been posting but have just caught up. Very busy week out and about and definitely not a low spend week. Some of it I will get back from work eg drinks, meals, parking etc but you have to have it to spend it. Expenses should be in early next week so that will help.
I have lived up to my name in the few weeks, bought 2 swimsuits whilst out and about so much for not buying clothes this year
The diet has gone out the window, with hotel food, long hours etc I have eaten that much chocolate!!!! I should know better but I don't seem to learn. I will do better starting tomorrow as I only have 1 day next week that I am out and will have to eat what is provided.
Good news I have paid £100.01 off my mortgage so that helps. Food shopping is going well and I have spent very little this week and do not need anything for the next few days so fingers crossed I will achieve a couple of NSD. I know what we are going to eat for the next 5 days so that side is under control. I tried frugal queens meat ball recipe it was good, made flapjack last week and buns. Good for using up what I have in the house not so good for the diet.......
Sorry to ramble onOverpay mortgage £100 per month. Not Buying it 2015.0
