Went for a swim this evening, normally costs me £2.20 but the receptionist told me if I waited twenty mins it'd only be 50p as they have a 'happy hour'! And had a movie night with the flatmates yesterday, watched a film one of us already owned on DVD and got YS snacks - paid 87p for 4 muffins, a big bar of cadbury chocolate, and a mini box of quality street!

Most frugal of all, I got back from my swim to discover I forgot to defrost dinner... So made a spicy soup with what was in the cupboard - bit of onion, half a chilli, garlic, red lentils, and stock, plus a bit of goats cheese going out of date. Utterly gorgeous and cost pennies! And another portion in the fridge for tomorrows lunch. Feeling quite proud of myself :)

well done, love when you get an unexpected bargain!

I've finally got through the pages of posts and caught up, some great tips!

Antibiotics making me feel better but they are darn expensive!

Making brekkie/lunch/dinner from stores today. Have no idea whats actually in the fridge to eat though so it should be fun!

Paid off my CC bill in total last night! :D So I officially have one more bill off under €200 and then I'm debt free! I didn't have much to start but I'm a !!!!!! for putting things on my CC. So I will make my target of being DF before the end of february!

How cheapskate am I? :o Went into mr m and bought a perfect plant rtc at £1.50 and two cream slices rtc at 55p, sell by date tomorrow, and took them when I went to a friend for coffee this morning. They were both very gratefully accepted but I've never done anything like that before and feel guilty :o. Would you, and would you?
Forgot to say, I did remove the labels before I got to her house :o

Err Absolutely and absolutely. If there was nothing wrong with it then why do you feel guilty? You've still bought her a nice present that she really liked. Remember "it's the thought that counts" it doesn't mean you think any less of her because you spent less.

That must feel great tatabubbly, well done you. :T
  • I moved my tumble dryer into the garage so that I have to unlock 2 doors and walk across the garden to get to it. I have 4 airers in the house and 2 of those peg things for socks and pants etc. I have a heated radiator in the downstairs bathroom (got free and for other reasons) which I leave on in the winter and I have a towel holder above it which has hanging rails on it. If there's anything emergency needed for next day e.g. school uniform then I hang it in their overnight. I always hang the peg things over it and they're dry over night.

I also have a big airer on wheels in the garage. It's not actually an airer as such. the college I work at was throwing away this thing which I think they used to dry art work on so I just removed the bits I didn't need and cleaned it up. It's great for those windy days as often if I put my airers up outside they blew over (even with the positioning of heavy things beneath to try to sturdy them) but with this one it just wheels around the garden.

I have to say that I think I sound a bit obsessed with airers now I come to think about it. I used to have one of those ones that two side parts fold outwards (like wings) but something got put on top of it in the garage and the legs buckled. Got OH to remove legs and we suspended it from the garage ceiling. It was great but really unsightly.

I hardly ever use my TD but I do like it there for real emergencies (but always paranoid that things will shrink) - I don't understand those people who use it for JUST pants and socks as I think these are the easiest and quickest things to dry - but each to their own.
  • Have increased paypal account from £0 to just over £100 in a week. Am so pleased with myself. x

I had one of these but kept finding the cat asleep on the wing parts!

Oh im envious of hanging out washing in winter, sadly we have a terraced house, and therefore our back garden doesnt get sunlight until 10 in summer , much much less in winter and so allways wet and muddy and frozen even on a warmish sunny day..as soon as it gets to march though its normally ok to go out again!

We have exactly the same, a lovely big terrace house with a walled in back yard/garden which gets very little sun yet seems to trap cold.
