Again, no big saves or money coming in to report but things are ticking away nicely. My savings have savings in already (£40 since 1st Jan but better than the £0 at the end of last year) and I've been very frugal with my shopping habits and using up. It is definitely paying off!!

While I remember.... MySupermarket emails re three months of free online delivery. Basically if you do your online shop via them (often cheaper as it highlights offers ad cheaper alternatives) you'll get £5 in your Paypal for each qualifying order (over £40 I think), effectively covering your delivry charge or more so if you go for a cheaper slot.
You have to join as a VIP but it is free. I've done it so will let you know next week but worth a mention ?

Hi everyone, thought I'd check in while I get the chance! Tesco currently have a £15 off your first £60 online shop with them so I used that to fill my stores back up (I paid £47 for a £62 shop and couldn't fit everything in my cupboards!) then topped up at another shop and paid £92 in total for 3 weeks worth of food for 2 adults and 4 children! I also finally got round to ringing my utility company as my fixed rate ends in March, they offered me another fix until January 2016, reduced my d/d by £15 a month and refunded over £100 that I'd built up in credit, which promptly went to pay some of my overdraft off. Have been tempted to spend it but have managed to stay away from the shops so far this week :) I'm also trying to make my way through my huge wool stash in a productive way! Oh, and I gave up smoking last Sunday (nearly a whole week!!) so that's my first £15 in my pot which will pay for 12 months car tax in June instead of me panicking when the letter comes. I will be paying my first extra payment off my credit cards on Tuesday and I never thought I'd say this but I'm actually looking forward to doing it! Hope everyone is keeping safe and warm this January x

Left over mash so mini bubbles tonight. Hopefully a NSD today and tomorrow.

Waiting for the baby stuff to arrive at Mr T then we can do a big drive around all the supermarkets to save fuel. We are on our last box of basics teabags from Mr S so they had better hurry up!

ETA: Mummy2threeboys you have done so well clearing your debt...fantastic work!

  • Hi folks, nothing major to report here. Just the usual weekend of getting organised. Shopping done this morning at Mr L. We spent £12.19. Hopefully this will see us through the week along with bits that are already in the cupboards.

It is a lovely bright and frosty day here today so OH and I had a walk this morning.

    Other plans this weekend:
    1. Continue to do some de-cluttering.
    2. Continue working on crochet scarf I have started.
    3. Get organised for work on Monday - I need to do some development work for my classes, shop for breakfast bits for my Nurture Group and pack towels to use with my Lotions and Potions class.
    4. Order some dried Lavender to make some Lavender bags.

Well being on placement and studying is saving me a small fortune. I take my lnch with me as there's no where to buy anything near by which is meaning i HAVE to take it from home and it is also keeping me on track with my diet :). Also fuel I normally average £40 a week at least, as my university is 18 miles away but my placement is only 4 miles away so it's worked out really well for me. Also had mountains of coursework and have a law exam tuesday so have been hibernating which means i have been staying in and not spending.

Going to return some unwanted gifts tomorrow so that will be 81 pounds back:)

Don't know about you, but cooking from scratch inc healthy snacks (spicy mixed nuts, hummus etc) means I'm eating loads better and seem to have lost a bit of weight - to be fair, this was the usual few pounds after Xmas which was basically made up of After Eights and wine!
However, I'm thinking about what to eat and making sure my meals are balanced and taste good. May be just my imagination but even at this early stage my hair seems in better condition and skin doesn't look so tired!

Been studying this morning, off to a friend's later so no spending for me.

Am still wondering of someone can post me a recipe for dhal?! I believe Thrifty Lesley makes a good un!

I have just had my weekly trip out to the shopping centre. I wondered around and picked up the tv paper we needed at home, costing 45p.
All the time I was wondering round, I just kept thinking "I must stay within the budgets"
In the end I came home as my budget thoughts were ruining my day out.:(
Hopefully it will get easier. It is only the first week for me so far.

Do you hv a Waitrose, been mentioned before, but get a card & get a free coffee if you want to make more of a day of it, or pop into library to look at some books or magazines...
