I agree, but I did buy the book for the ideas on curries. I love them but am still making them with pastes. I was looking for a version that skipped the pastes. There are a few other tips that make sense but a lot of the time when I was watching the program I thought where are these £10 sides of salmon he goes on about?mummy2threeboys wrote: »i know what you mean
..annoyingly all of his ideas you can find free on the internet as well, loads of ideas ..lovefoodhatewaste is a great free website. Personally ive never liked the idea of having to spend money (quite a bit in this case if you buy his book) to save money..seems a bit well defeating the object. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

Morning from sunny Wales

Had a nsd yesterday, and today,so far!! Have started writing a shopping list so that i dont forget things when i go, and so far it has eggs on so need to rush
Took ds to a baby group today, was lovely seeing him interact with other babies.
Sat down with a cuppa catching up with everyone elses news now!
Has anyone ever had a problem with sky? We were offered a really good deal before xmas, but yesterday they charged us over £80!! Have rung them so hopefully they'll sort it, but as soon as we get a refund its gone!! Fed up of them getting things wrong. Weve also got phone & broadband with them, which im trying to decide if i can live without??
Also had a problem with 3, dh has been overcharged for four months, so theyve credited his account. Annoying thing is all these phonecalls cost money to rectify their problems!! Grrr!
Anyway thats enough of a moan from me!Still here..... but working on that!0 -
I definitely feel like I am winning the battle of spending V saving
I have paid for a delivery saver for 3 months with ASDA and this will help me stop any unnecessary impulse buying :T
I also have a delivery saver with Tesco so that I can take advantage of buying in bulk when an item is on special offer.
I may seem a bit mad to have delivery savers with two supermarkets but I buy stock for both a Family Cafe that I run at my local church as well as for the cafe at my local community centre.
Fuel is such a big expense in our household and I am sure that having my shopping delivered will make a big dent in our fuel bill.
I have also just transferred money out of my bank account into my savings account - wahoo

ETA I'm confused too..
Oh, I see that there is a thumb knitted, you would need to sew from the bottom of the glove and up the thumb, and from the top of the glove and down the thumb, leaving a gap for the thumb to come through.LBM: NOVEMBER 2011 || debt free date:30/06/15 || The Fighting Debt Army: #442 || Frugal Living Challenge 2018 || January 2018 Grocery £1.22/£100 ||0 -
Okay, so tax return not done but started. My day work was so manic and I was pulled in so many directions that I left late and my brain melted out of my ears. So I think I'm just about capable of listening to a music DVD and crochet with a few chrimbo Hero chocs
What a fantastic description - I think I may just have to use that one :rotfl:"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Still battling with the Christmas surplus. Just turned the 6 oranges which had cloves stuck into them into orange curd. I had all the other ingredients I needed, but the recipe said use within 2 weeks, so I'll freeze it in portions and use it as either a sauce on ice-cream, orange meringue pie or a sauce over HM meringues.
Going to look at the veg next as I'm sure there are sprouts that need using up or at least cooking and putting back into the fridge until tomorrow as I had fish pie in mind for tea.0 -
So, meal planned for the next 10 days and made a teeny list of fresh stuff/stuff that had run out and went shopping today. I was uber frugal as I had a £1.66 price promise voucher at Tesco to use so bought bread, 2x sweetcorn and a lettuce for £1.67. The lovely SA gave me the extra penny to save me putting it on a card
Went to Sainsburys and had a 99p brand match voucher and took back a frame my sister had bought me for xmas, I don't like it and so used the £8 I got back for shopping. Fruit and veg, squash, toiletries and dairy came to £2,97 for the next 10 days, possibly more

Bought some baby things in Tesco sale online today-stickers for the wall reduced to £3, a blanket at £4 and 2 cellular blankets. Getting it through click and collect so saves on postage but...I feel really really stressed about buying it. I can afford it, but I have now reached a point where I begrudge spending any money at all. Scary to think only 5 years ago I would have happily racked up enormous debts on my CC but now I physically can't spend anything without feeling guilty!
OH has decided that we shall look at carpets on monday for the bedrooms. This is also making me stressed. Think I will go and drown myself in chocolates and copious amounts of whisky!Pay off all your debts by Christmas 2025 no. 15 £0/69490
