Hello RO,
I've just been catching up with your diary, well done on what you have achieved so far. I've subscribed to your thread and hope you won't mind me hitching a ride on your coat tails. We are in a VERY similar situation and really need to get a grip. I'd say 'pay off the highest interest CC, definitely'. You KNOW that your OD will only creep back up again!

Wish someone would hurry up and buy the car! Had a couple of stupid offers, and lots of views of ad, but no sensible offers yet.Long haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0

Where have you got it advertised? I paid to put my last car in Auto Trader and the local papers, both with online ads also and had no interest. It sold instantly from the free Gumtree ad though. Hope you sell it soon.
We are seriously thinking about selling mine. DH's is off the road at the moment though so he is using it. We tell ourselves that it is useful and necessary because sometimes I have spells where my chronic health problems mean I can't walk far but even if I had a taxi everywhere on those days it still would be a fraction of the ongoing cost of keeping a car mostly on the drive!

Have just come over to your thread from your posting on Flumpkin's and have read through from the beginning.
You really seem to have changed your mindset and you will get rid of that debt quickly because of that.
It's great news that you've been able to get increases in your CCs with lower interest rates and reduce the amount at higher rates. I think you'll find as time goes on and you start clearing your debt more quickly (once your loans are paid off) that you are likely to be able to get offers of 0% balance transfers and then the debt will go quicker than ever.
Good luck on your journey.

Hey RO - found you and subscribed. You are doing so well and great news on being able to transfer some to lower rates.

Starting to transfer balances to these extended lower rate balances. So far have had one emergency call from Barclaycard about "unusual transactions".......well, yuh, that's because you've just extended my credit at 6% so am transferring like mad. Didn't have any BT offers, but 6% is fine, so have paid Cap1 with money for middle boys fees, and paid fees with Barclaycard. Have also done a BT from N'wide for the rest of the Cap1, so that should be clear -all bar a couple of quid as didn't want it to go into credit! and will clear the last few £s once the payments show online. It feels good.
(Even though it's not actually paying anything off, it's reducing the rates significantly.) Once the Nwide BT through, I'll pay the rest of Next so that'll be clear all bar £100 too. Long haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0 -
Have just phoned to close the Cap1 card.
I know it's not really reduced the amount owing, but it feels good to get rid of that card, I can tell you!
Just waiting for the Next returns to credit back onto that account, then I'm paying off the last bit of that and closing it too. :jLong haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0 -
Days to go: 962
Well, things are pootling along. January is just miserable, so always a gloomy time. Food shopping is within budget still, Tesco delivering today.
Still haven't sold the blooming car, it's on Friday Ads and Gumtree and not a sniff there, and is on Ebay too, at a fixed price listing. Had a few silly offers the first few days, but nothing since. Book price is £1900 so have it up for £2000 with offers. Had offers up to £1700, but want £1850 at least really. It's not the end of the world as we have a few really busy days at the end of the month where having two cars would be useful, but I'm itching to pay off some stuff!
Have rung and closed Cap1, because I slightly messed up the payments; it currently had a credit balance of about £40, which seems to be causing an issue. The woman when I rang took our bank details about six times to send it as a faster payment, but it's still not arrived and the account is still showing as open and with the credit balance online, so I guess I'll wait and see what happens on Monday.
Next currently has a balance of £6, am waiting for a few items I bought to show and then some returns as well (PJs for the kids in the sale, my only spend), which will leave a balance of about £40, which will be cleared and then closed by the Cap 1 cash.
Next target is some BNPL stuff on ISME that is due to accrue interest from March onwards. That's where the car cash will go, and that will clear that account (and close it) and then we'll start on hubby's Barclaycard.
Hope everyone is well and not too miserable with this dreary time of year!Long haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0 -
