Each country’s healthcare system is slightly different. Therefore, your EHIC might not cover everything that would be free on the NHS. However, you should be able to get the same treatment as a resident of the country you're visiting.NO MORE HANDWASH GLITCHES PLEASE

A friend who is a nurse in the renal unit said a Roma man can in with kidney failure the wife after they got an interpreter(sp) was screaming "No money"!!! Friend said what were suppose to do, kick him out???0

I'm not entirely sure. I've always travelled on insurance and have never used a EHIC. Then again I've never used the insurance either. So all I know about the EHIC is what I've read.
There's obviously a lot of diplomatic discussion to go on before the UK makes any decision on staying in the UK. My feeling is that trade will be the key issue but that may not necessarily be how it's presented to the great unwashed. An exit from the common area would be a barrier in itself in my opinion and a rejection of the protectionism already in place for EU members so I can see the UK GDP being threatened unless another market was found outwith the Commonwealth.
I suspect the key issues will be more likely to be Roma beggars and unsmiling heavily accented shop assistants when your own kids can't get jobs.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Yes I can see that. Our nurses and doctors would treat the man and then look for ways to pay for the treatment later and if there was no funding available they would write it off.
Sad in one respect that our system is open to abuse but obviously very humane of our medical people to treat someone in need.0 -

I see those as way down the list of priorities - sorry.
BTW I don't have any kids. :cool:0 -
I think the nationality thing is a bit of a red herring. It is not the nationality that matters it is whether or not they beg for money aggressively.
Personaly I find some of the drunks hanging round the centre of Belfast asking more money more invasive of my space than the beggars.Val0 -
If the same beggers are at the same locations each day can they not be moved by the PSNI?0

Asking strangers for money for alcohol surely renders them beggers?0 -
