Going on their previous interest in the cat's welfare i think it highly unlikely.
Speak to the owners and find out what's going onFroglet wrote:So what would you all have rather happened?
Speak to the owners and find out what's going on, advise them that they need to care for it better and if not, that they would be reported to the RSPCA. Then report it to the RSPCA and take photos and videos as evidence, and feed the cat. The rest is up to the RSPCA, who would be badgered by me, and if they took too long about it then I'd take it myself and deal with it. Doesn't have to be a long process in case you're ready to say that the cat could have starved/died in that amount of time.Let this cat starve and freeze to death? I'm sure some would think urgh manky cat, keep away from me .0 -
If I felt my methods of looking after my cat were being questioned not once but twice (as they were by the fact Ewa approached the owners) then I would make dam sure my cat was taken indoors and kept away from "interfering" strangers
The fact these owners haven't done that or even questioned the fact this "stranger" was feeding their, cat speaks volumes to me about how little they actually care :mad:0 -
Have you read this whole thread ?The RSPCA didn't want to know. The owners showed no interest when spoken to.So what was she meant to do ?0

Exactly.A point made constantly throughout this thread. If it was on a special diet, like they stated they would be furious at someone interfering.

You added this to your post, only noticed now.
Nobody would take any animal away from someone. That can was taken in from the street, from under a car/behind the bricks she used to get comfort from on cold winter rainy nights.
Nobody "took" the cat from the arms of a loving owner !!!!!!
And I had a very ill cat, not elderly as he was only around 6 or 7 but he had kidney cancer, was on meds and special food and was kept and cared for INDOORS.
When his time came, I had a vet to come to my flat and PTS here, with us, in his home - not alone cold on the street like this one would if left alone.
And he is still here, 3 years later, in a box on the shelf.
So, spare me your "poor owners their loved cat was stolen" bull0 -

And if my cat preferred to stay outside and someone had questioned my methods of caring for them, I wouldn't think that enough reason to keep my cat inside and miserable. I wouldn't think that this person would nick my cat, rather, I'd think that they would raise their concerns with me explicitly and threaten me with the RSPCA if they thought I was neglecting it.
I don't agree with their treatment of the animal as it has been reported here, but I object to the fact that this cat's fate is being decided by a bunch of strangers on the internet, completely unbeknownst to the owners.Have you read this whole thread ?The RSPCA didn't want to know. The owners showed no interest when spoken to.So what was she meant to do ?
Yes actually, I did read the whole thread before posting and what I've read is that the RSPCA were initially not interested but after being contacted again they took the details and said that they would investigate within 28 days. If they were to come now, what would they find? No cat, no neglect, nada. The thread also contains a lot of opinions from people saying that the cat looks neglected and cooing over said kitty based on a few pictures and biased reports. My cat was a very sick 15 year old and everyone who saw him said that he looked like a young cat, without exception.
The owners didn't take the stranger enquiring about their cat seriously, obviously didn't realise that there was the threat of their cat being taken by said stranger and they explicitly expressed their wishes to keep the cat.
I've already said what it would have been prudent to do, to liaise with the owners and the RSPCA and try to get the whole thing resolved ASAP, before resorting to taking the cat.0 -

Up and until the point of seeing the pictures of the cat indoors and hearing that it has made no attempt to get out, I might have agreed with you on this. Can you really say from the pictures (and there are lots so not just one that could easily be misinterpreted) that this looks like a cat that does not want to be indoors?0 -
And similarly we have kids being reported killed as Social Services took ages to respond and nobody else reacted in time because they to belonged to someone.. parents.0

I defend the RSPCA to a lot of people who think they are useless.Without them this world would be a terrible place for animals.
But i do think saying no first off, then promising to investigate within 28 days is just not good enough ,and so it is no wonder someone has tried to save the cat from suffering any longer than is necessary. For all we know that poor cat could have been dead by the time the RSPCA saw fit to call round.Yes i know they are busy but i thought they were there to protect animals from cruelty and neglect.0 -
