The BBC should get BBC 1 and BBC2 HD as channels 101 and 102 on Sky, ITV should have ITV 1HD on 103, and so on.
Sky do it on their own channels where the subscriber has an HD sub, don't, see why they can't do it for other channels. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I think the local news bulletins is why ITV and BBC have not done that.0

Not this old chestnut again. Sky will (and do) operate an SD/HD swap where the broadcaster requests it AND EPG regulations allow. Prominence on the EPG must be given to the PSB channels and at present BBC1, 2 and ITV's HD versions do not meet the EPG regulations for regional coverage (with the the exception of UTV HD in N.Ireland where the swap has been allowed and made). Until either the PSB definitions/regulations are changed or the broadcasters provide HD versions of the regional variations then it is not going to happen (BBC 2HD may well be the first to swap with only 4 regional variations). The BBC should get BBC 1 and BBC2 HD as channels 101 and 102 on Sky, ITV should have ITV 1HD on 103, and so on.

It'll be interesting to see what Sky do with Sky News HD on Sky/Cable if they lose market share due to BBC News going HD. They may make it FTV.0

Sky still have 501 on the EPG, while BBC News HD will be at 570 (for the time being) so Sky still has more prominence. I doubt there will be any great shift in viewing numbers either way. Sky News is rather tabloid in nature and I expect regular viewers to remain loyal rather than shift to the BBC simply because of HD.It'll be interesting to see what Sky do with Sky News HD on Sky/Cable if they lose market share due to BBC News going HD. I also think Sky will continue to keep their HD offerings behind a paywall for as long as possible.0 -

Odd? I just had Sky full pack for a year and the SD and HD wasn't swapped out.
Sky's channel org is powered by money nothing intuitive.0 -

Agree with this...but having experienced both side over the past 12 months, SKY's position of leverage is diminishing quickly. The high yield sports and movies is a big problem for them with BT Sport and streaming becoming so prominent.0 -

For me, as of yesterday, on Sky, 101 is BBCNI HD, 102 is BBC2 SD, 103 is UTV HD and 104 is Channel 4 SD. BBC2HD is still at 142 and Channel 4 is at 230. What a mess!0

As an old chestnut, I concur. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
