Been really busy the past couple of days. Lots of running around yesterday as my mum needed to go food shopping and then had the hospital in the afternoon (add the kids to that and I was basically on the go all day). Pretty much the same today too. Can't wait to have a bit of time to myself over Christmas.

I really need to get started on earning money. It's just not happened at the moment. I WILL make a start tomorrow. I've got some more running around to do tonight involving eBay stuff.

I've added some goals for 2014 to my first post so I can keep track of them.

  • Hi Emz,

Oooh I love a new diary. Have subscribed. :T

Hope your friends snaps out of her moody soon. I have quite a touchy friend that is easily annoyed so I know how you feel. Unless maybe she is a closet MSE'er ;).

One of your aims is the same as mine - Save a little bit each week towards birthdays & Christmas. Like Martin says, its on the same date EVERY year, why are we NEVER prepared :o.
Trouble is, with no savings set aside, if the car or an appliance breaks down, it is always the birthdays/Christmas pot that gets raided :(.

Good luck hun and will be checking in to follow your progress xx
  • I so agree with your take on the savings problem, Steph:T
In my case it is always the unexpected crises that scupper my plans, not that I can afford to save much anyway as getting through each month is a trial as it is:(

Hi StressedSteph :) - thanks for subscribing.

I know what you mean about the savings. Fortunately, my mum runs a Christmas club for the women she used to work with, so I'm going to give the money to her and therefore I won't be able to touch it. My sister did it last year and I was really jealous when she got a £450 payout in November - but that will be me next year too!!

(still not heard from my friend BTW)

God I feel rough today - not CF problems this time - just good old fashioned women's problems instead!! :p

OH and I have been out and about this morning. We had to take a car part that he sold to the post office and then I took advantage of the O2 offer of £5 free at the Body Shop. I got a nice little gift set for only £1. I'll give it to my sister or to my moody friend if she snaps out of it before Christmas ;).

I will start doing some work once my OH is out of the way. He's off to the gym in a bit and then going to his mates house, so I have a free evening.

I know what you mean carbootcrazy, about every month being a trial. It seems at the moment the slightest hiccup or over spend sets us off course by months. Think I need a REALLY quiet uneventful 2014 to be able to kill of some debt and then have breathing space to start some savings. Finger Crossed.

    Morning Emz,

sorry to hear Aunt Flo is being mean. Hope you managed to get some work done last night. I have a lot to do today and sitting here isn't achieving anything, but its hard to get motivated sometimes.

Hope you are having a good Sunday. xx

Really need to post more often on here. I'm going to make it my ritual to post on here before, during or after I do my nebuliser (in progress as we speak).

Not been up to much since I last posted. We went to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty last night for free. OH wasn't too keen but I thought it was good. It's a positive movie and makes you think, which is the type of film I like.

I also went to see my niece in her nativity play yesterday. Well, she was in the choir, not the actual play. I love seeing her face light up when she spots us in the audience.

My to-do list today looks like this:
    • [STRIKE]Morning nebuliser and meds[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Go to Smiths and see if I can get the free wrapping paper and Christmas card on the O2 offer.[/STRIKE]Got some wrapping paper for the kid's presents and a card for OH - love a good freebie!!
    • [STRIKE] Change the bed sheets[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Do a wash[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Do the Sainsbury's eBooks offer I received the other day (spend at least £1 on an eBook and get 500 Nectar points. I figure I'm gaining a free eBook and £1.50 worth of points).[/STRIKE] Had to spend £1.29 in the end, but I'm still £1.21 up with a free book to read ;)
    • [STRIKE] 50 questions[/STRIKE]
    • Wrap at least 5 presents
    • Evening nebuliser and meds

  • So nebs done?

    hope so.

Quite a successful day in terms of my list. I'm just about to start doing my evening meds and then will get an early night and read a chapter of my (free) book.

The only thing I didn't do was wrap some presents, but I don't have any gift tags and figure I might as well just do all of them together when I've finished shopping at the weekend.

I did well on freebies and got a razor through the post for my OH. I also sold a freebie on eBay and made £7.

Hi Buffy - cross posted there :)

Good luck with the frugal living challenge - I'm sure you'll do great.

Is there anyway you can see Walter Mitty with a friend on a 2-4-1 or something? Cut the cost down?

    Emz xx
