All change for 2014

I've been contemplating starting a new diary for a bit now and decided to make it happen today.
Or there abouts anyway. Some other important info about me, I'm self-employed, mainly due to my illness (which is Cystic Fibrosis) and I live with my boyfriend of 13 years (although we have only just moved in together).
I'm basically sick of having no money and I'm sick of owing money to people. Things have to change or I will be stuck in the same position this time next year.
I've had a bit of a rough time with my health over the past few months, but that has improved now, so as long as I keep up with my treatments, there is no reason why I can't work hard to get the pennies rolling in and start chipping away at this debt.
So, 2014 will be the year of working harder, but worrying less and watching those debts shrink.

Yay! Found you again! I caught up on your last email and I'm so sorry to hear about the rough stuff but you always pull through so positively. Glad to hear your Mum is on the mend too. x0

Thanks for your posts everyone :A
I haven't made the best start to my new diary
. Must do better.
Bagged a couple of freebies today. I got a little set of Disney Princess perfumes worth £7.99 on the O2 Rewards offer (will give them to my niece) and I also got a roll of wrapping paper from O2 (might use it to wrap up OH's parents presents
).
I'm meeting up with my friend tomorrow for lunch. It's my turn to pay, but I'm really hoping she will offer to put some towards it seeing as it's our 'Christmas meal' and they always cost a bit more. I've got £30 budgeted, but would love it to be less as I'm quite skint until OH gets paid a week Friday. Everything else Christmas wise is on hold until OH gets paid too.
I've also got some eBay items to post tomorrow, so hoping they don't cost any more than £10. Also need to post our Wimbledon applications for this year (my sister and I apply every year
).

I've just text my friend and asked if it's okay if we go halves tomorrow and I'll pay for the next 'normal meal'. She has said yes. I hope she doesn't think I'm being cheeky.

Up early this morning as I'm on auntie duties (making sure my niece and nephew get to school/pre-school and then picking them up again). Thank god I only have 2 more weeks of this and then I get a nice break (only do it Thursday/Friday).
So, I guess my friend did think I was being cheeky, as I got an email at 7am yesterday morning saying she had to cancel lunch. Hmm, guess she thought she was going to get a freebie from me. My sister and I went out instead with my nephew and she paid (big sisters are good like that
).
Be back later.

Sorry you missed having a nice meal and catch-up with your friend but it sounds as if you've been friends for years and I doubt your request for a change of payment arrangements this once (which she agreed to anyway)will have caused a real rift.
It's such a busy time of year for most people, maybe she genuinely had something more pressing to do. Or, more likely, like you (and I guess the majority of us), she is very stretched financially at the moment and was having problems about finding the cash. Maybe a 'free' meal was all her budget could take this week and she obviously wanted to help you out but after doing an 'audit' realised it was impossible. I think we've all been there:o
Just a couple of thoughts but does she appreciate your cash-flow problems? Do you think that she may be in the same boat but hasn't admitted to it yet?
My advice (for what it's worth:rotfl:) is to clear the air before any misunderstandings start to cause any problems.
Enjoy your day and take care of yourself. We don't want you ill from exhaustion at Christmas:eek:0 -

Thanks CBC
- I have known my friend for a long time (around 12 years, we used to work together) and I know she can be difficult at times. She has had little 'strops' in the past and seems to just snap out of them eventually. I really don't think it's to do with the money. I'll probably pop over there before Christmas though, even if it's just to put a card through her door.
