MET notice at McDonalds while in KFC
PTLin
While in an unfamiliar area recently I visited a KFC and unwittingly parked in a space that was for McDonalds customers. I got a windscreen ticket from MET, that must have been written within a couple of mins of me leaving the car, saying I had parked without authorisation. Not sure what that means exactly.
I've read lots of similar threads on here but they seem to be from valid McDonalds customers who have been wrongly ticketed. While I didn't realise I shouldn't park there, I did see the signs after I got the ticket so they were there. I couldn't get a picture though cos it was dark.
So I'm guessing a man watched me leave the car and go to KFC (right next door to McD) and wrote the ticket straight away.
So my question is: do I still have a chance of getting this cancelled?
And how can they ticket you within mins of leaving the car when you could easily be going to McD's aswell?

best bet is to read the newbies sticky thread at the top of the forum by coupon-mad
then decide on your UK region
after that you should know what comes next, and what you have to do about it
read this simple explanation too https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/48359430 -
You won't be replying to a windscreen ticket anyway, as per the 'NEWBIES READ THIS FIRST!' sticky. Appeal time is when the NTK arrives.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

Thanks. I did read the newbies bit (a lot) but I wasn't sure from it whether to wait for the NTK and go through that process or own up to the fact I did wrong and just pay up. So many other people here seem to have genuine reasons why they shouldn't have been ticketed and so are rightly wanting to appeal.
Redx, thanks for the link. Appealing the unnecessarily high fee seems to make sense. How can they claim a loss of £100 only a couple of mins after I parked? That bit does make sense. Thanks.0 -
Oh and region is England.0

correct, the punishment does not fit the crime, and its also not within the remit if you accept what the BPA guidelines to members say
ie:- it has to be a genuine pre-estimate of loss, not a punishment
there is no way they incurred losses of £100 , not even £10
therefore this would be the basis of a soft appeal
and this for POPLA if necessaryDear parking
In reference to the invoice xxxxxx, and your letters of (date). As the registered keeper of the vehicle, I appeal on the following grounds
1) The charge is not a genuine pre-estimate of loss
2) Your signage is inadequate and does not comply with the bpa Code of Practice
3) You do not have authority or contract to issue these invoices
As you know popla upholds all appeals on the above, so you are invited to cancel this invoice now
Sincerely
The keeper

You didn't do anything wrong at all.
How wrong is it to have a chicken meal instead of a burger?
Claiming £100 is wrong - please don't pay.
Wait for the NtK then follow the advice on here.0 -
Thanks, Redx.
So do I include the bit about them not having authority or contract regardless? I have no idea if they do. Are we just banking on the fact that many of them don't?0 -
Go and complain to McDonalds and KFC, they both work under franchises, and its probably the same company for both, so find out who that isWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

If one of the biggest players, parkingeye, can't get their contracts right you can bet the smaller fry are even less organised. ParkingEye now have at least 5 cases where the contract was dated after the parking event.

Hey guys. I waited for NtK which arrived just after the 28 days. I sent an appeal letter yesterday, which was 2 weeks after their NtK. Today I have received a Final Notice saying the charge is overdue and immediately payable.
Are they just using scare tactics? Have they jumped the gun and can I use this when I go to POPLA?
Also the contravention is stated as not displaying a valid ticket, when it wasn't even a ticket/permit car park.0
