tesco signal with 02

Since Tesco is a virtual network running on O2, it will be exactly the same.
Unless the issue is with the SIM or handset. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Tesco on O2 is usually very good on both outdoor and indoor coverage although in town centres the signal can drop out when you are in the depths of some shops. But then all networks have dead spots and these vary from one network to another.
You can check your local coverage and find out about any work being done on masts at http://status.o2.co.uk/ Just enter your location/postcode to find out local status.0 -
must say its very poor at the moment. it was fine outside the city centre. however im glad i did a one month deal now. may have to ring them on mnday and request pac code.0
-
Your one month deal cannot be cancelled during the first month, so the initial term is 60 days, then 30 thereafter.0

thanks for tellin me. will have to see how this goes0

I have the same phone and network as you. Only had the phone 3 days and I also have poor data connection. Prior to this I was on giffgaff and had no problems. So I am hoping it is just a little hitch over the weekend as both tesco and giffgaff run on O2.0

Giff Gaff & Tesco customers are given a lower priority than O2 customers.
There are 3 tiers to O2's service.
Tier 1- O2 Pay monthly + Business
Tier 2- O2 Pay as you go + Tesco Pay Monthly/pay as you go
Tier 3- Giff Gaff + Other MVNO's.
If you are connected to a mast that's not very busy you will most likely get the same performance on Giffgaff as you would on O2 as conditions are perfect, everyone has access to the mast and capacity isn't an issue so it will be mostly the same, Giffgaff only gets worse when there are a lot of people on the mast, this is where the priority thing I mentioned comes in, if the mast needs to offload people or slow them down MVNOs like Giffgaff go first, if conditions are perfect nobody gets offloaded or slowed down because there is enough space and it's just not necessary.
I doubt that is the issue here with the posts in this thread. but people do need to be made aware that MVNO's have a lower priority on O2 than O2 PAYM/Business customers.0 -
makes sense looks like it must be crap at weekends in town centre here
as soon as i went out a mile out it was fine
i notice its fine now. prob because town is dead. i live in town0 -

Is this actually true? I remember Giffgaff vehemently denying this. I would be really interested in seeing the evidence for this claim. My bro uses O2 and I use Giffgaff so I will be able to check next time I'm at this place.0 -

Yes, it's an O2 system that was designed in house. Not much evidence I can give really.
Tbh though, 99.9% of the time you're not going to notice a difference between O2 and Giff Gaff. But it is good to be aware of the differences.0
