What days do you work over Christmas/new Year?

I am self-employed and am taking Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day off.

What does everyone else take off?

I am a family carer....I don't get days off (last day off was in August 2006!)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

We finish on the 20th of December and only return to work on 6 January. (Didn't have to take leave for it either).

We have Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. TBH that is enough for me, I go stir crazy stuck in the house watching Christmas TV. I can't even listen to the radio as Classic FM goes overboard with the choral music, which I am not keen on.

In my working life I only ever had Xmas Day/Boxing Day and New Year's Day off.... until last year when I worked for a firm that closed for one week (which you took out of the 20 days/year). It was brilliant knowing nobody else was working..... on the other hand, it is an awful "waste" of time taken off when it's cold as I'd rather have days off in the summer.

Also self-employed and I'm planning to knock off work on the 20th and resume early January.
  • I'm off from 23rd Dec - 1st Jan inclusive. I've only had to use 4 days leave. Can't wait

I'm off my main job 21st-6th although working my second job a few days over the holidays. Change is as good as a rest...or something like that.

I'm taking 3 bank holidays, 1 privilege day and 4 annual leave. So off 24th-6th. A good two weeks off.
