Extremely shallow taste to laugh at ones own joke, but new jelly (like new delhi) is making me giggle...:D
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Don't forget to let the moths out, too.

Best of luck with your mortgage application, LJ.

I had a strange conversation with my Mum this weekend. As always it involved her reading the Daily Mail and then asking my opinion on the articles. It went like this:

Mum: So do you think the skier is guilty?
Me: Sorry Mum, I don't know who you mean.
Mum: you know, the one who shot his girlfriend and who has skis for legs.

The Mail has got a lot to answer for.

I dont get that, but it sounds as if the Mail has messed up (again) here!

I lost almost all of my mother before she actually died. Be warned that your DW may well feel very odd when it actually happens. I can't articulate how I felt, but it was not a straightforward feeling, so if your DW ends up with feelings about the death that don't seem to make any sense to you or even to her, then don't be surprised. I am glad she has you to be there for her.

Edit - Here's an example of a confused and illogical feeling: I tried hard to make sure that I had done and said everything I could think of that I needed to do or say while she was still alive, and then I felt I didn't know what to do with myself between the point where I couldn't think of anything else I needed to say, and the actual death. But not knowing what to do with myself made me feel guilty, almost as though it suggested that I was impatient for her to die, which of course I wasn't. Feelings are what they are, and nobody's grief is quite like anybody else's, although there are similarities, of course.

I know exactly what you mean. DW is having some very confusing thoughts, wishing it would all just end. I hope that she doesn't look back on this and feel guilty over that somewhat inappropriate thought. It is confusing because this state of near-helpless indignity is absolutely NOT what MIL wanted for herself. She always said that she would rather shoot herself first.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I do believe mortgage app gets submitted in the morning (tbc).
Conversations about wills have been started too.
Bit morbid, this house malarky innit?

    Good luck LJ!

The great thing with a mortgage is that when you've dealt with the original part, you never have to deal with them again, so take that into account, too!

I think it is more likely that mum has got her Paralympic wires crossed.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Didn't quote too much in case you deleted the detail. Hope you're OK, Spirit, and very best of luck.

My GP's just introduced a system where you can see available appointments and book your own online, which is a fantastic idea. Does yours have similar?

Our online "booking" is that you request an appointment with a nurse/hca/GP/named GP (from a dropdown) and select a timescale, then they email you an appointment.

Provision is very good - urgent appts that morning if you ring about 8am, evening if you ring about 2pm.

Less urgent appointments within 3 days for a GP - 2 weeks for routine appointments.

I never feel rushed either, and for non long term conditions I will see whoever is available - there are male and female GPs and age range from late 30's to 60's. It is a new build opened about 2 years ago. My only concern is that I get to go to 3 different hospitals for various bodily parts, which is why I welcome a single NHS core health record instead of having records everywhere.

For this procedure colleagues want me to go to the local teaching hospital where there is also a cardiac unit in case anything goes wrong (it is not a cardiac procedure - just my underlying stuff worries folk) I feel a bit the same but do not want to be "worried well" or awkward and just want to get on with it.

To get the GP I want is 4-6 weeks usually.

To get a GP within the surgery, they can usually do within a working week. I'm registered at an Essex GP, not Herts, though.
