They'd need to see everybody face to face, good or bad, so those with bad news couldn't work out that it was going to be bad news because they had to go in .... leaving those with good news worrying.
In the old days a Doctor would have made an evening slot available.
My mum had surgery in the mid 60s. When she came round, in the Hospital, her GP was there; he'd sat beside her bed all night. He said "I just wanted to make sure you were OK - I'll go home now". You don't get that these days. He couldn't have been her GP for more than 2 years at that point either, it's not like he was the family GP or anything!
I received the news about my first eek smear via the telephone, they just rang up out of the blue and told me to make an appointment urgently with the doctor and the reason why
Talk about panic stations.....We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

I get lots of results by telephone.
Mainly when they want me to go in its so they can actually look at me. And that is look rather than touch. My current GPs seem to hate to examine. My gastero had a good poke about at a lump that's been worrying me that the gps avoid but 'we' do seem to think its a cyst that's just huge but as its way done the list of concerns no one's even bothered suggesting scanning that to check :rotfl:0 -
Did Carol Kirkwood mention that we'd have hailstorms today? I was distracted.

Anyone travelling from the West into London would be better served getting off at Reading and walking.............

I'm in Cardiff and the wind is billowing.
One of those social media conundrums. I have the car here and am going back tomorrow hopefully. Trains are bad, so I could post on facebook that I have room for passengers, but even restricting the post to friends, that will mean I could end up with friends of friends wanting lifts. I would want to be helpful, but 3 hours in a car with someone I don't know leaves me a tad vunerable.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hoping that Gen's doctor would have instructed Gen to drop everything and attend surgery if it was urgent.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Could you say something along the lines of...
'Sorry, but as I would otherwise traveling alone, I will be unable to extend this offer to people that I don't know'?Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Interesting that they say not to build from wood, a lot of the stilt houses that I know of are built from teak. Perhaps solutions are considered better now or is teak considered too endangered. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
