    I've been Money Tipped!
Just a bit of a whoop. DH hates pasta bakes/ pasta al forno, but we made one with left over guinea number one today and artichokes and he LOVED it. I feel that success has been many years hardwork. The only one before this that's slipped through has been mac 'n' cheese which I think I've made three times in however many years.

Nikkster, I've got loads of courgette seeds - PM me if you'd like some for this year.

    Thanks Yorkie :)

Now you mention it, I think I might have some in my parents garage from last year... Probably back there next weekend so will have a look. Otherwise I might well be in touch!

Crikey Spirit. Who would have thought that the wild east really is the wild west? Horrible. So sorry for them.

I am told that they live in a respectable area. Not sure how they will continue to live there.

Nephew said Son was quite cool about it - he told his dad - "we have had worse". He did not say what, but his mum has had BC twice and he and his dad were closely involved in a family tragedy.

All the same, my thought was that he had not believed how much danger they were in as the attackers were under the influence of drugs.

Pasta bake is normally a take it or leave it for me but I think for Guinea fowl and artichoke I could make an exception.
    I think....

Do you think they are past the shock stage Spirit? I wonder if this could come out a bit further down the line as a post-traumatic incident. It's truly horrid. I hope they are ok. Particularly if they have to go to court and relive the memories.

Will delete if you want me to.

Gen, I'm really sorry to hear about yet more worries for you. Hopefully, it will indeed turn out to be benign and you'll just have the discomfort of having it removed.

My experience with doctors is that they don't always volunteer the truth, but they never tell an outright lie. So, the fact that you've been told it's probably Warthin's tumor is very positive. After all, wikipedia, besides showing a rather gruesome picture, also says that it is highly unlikely to become malignant.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Apparently so. We have an old family recipe that is a bit gross tbh, but I feel fond towards it because its one of those things you get used to. I made it in very early days and DH was really polite and charming but just not effusive and I knew.

We were doing what couples in early relationships do and I said:
You know, its not going to work unless you are honest with me. And he said, you're right. I don't like pasta bake. And so I've never cooked it again! I have tried to batch cook and freeze it but that particular meal to me doesn't feel right done that way. And of course, I didn't eat many carbs for ages so it didn't matter.

Tbh I'm not that fussed about pasta bakes either,:rotfl: its just that I don't like there being something which i know there is an answer I should be able to meet and not having done it.

Now I feel ...replete for oven baked pasta, probably for ever. :D,

Most importantly, the pasta bake issue set an important principle for our relationship: we shall always be honest, but kind, with each other to avoid those sorts of situations where the woman cooks something she's not fussed about under the illusion its his favourite when he secretly hates it. ;). Its a principle that's worked well for us. There is nothing I cannot tell DH, and I can hear things from him that I'd take poorly from anyone else.

In other news sil broke up with her partner. Its sad but IMO a good thing. I was amazed to hear, after all the water under the bridge, her say to us today that she sees how we are together and she wants that. Well....yes. Thanks, we want that for her too. ( so why all the silliness about our relationship in the past!? ). I think its the nicest compliment we can have though.

I do not know -Son's reaction made me think that at teh time he had not realised the danger - but it may have been shock.

Clearly I've missed something, hope everything is OK.

The fire was quickly extinguished with a wet tea towel; the food was saved. OH's idea. I thought the best thing would be to shut the oven door and leave it burn itself out.

We weren't in our kitchen, nephew (age 8) commented, "I'm sure mummy doesn't bbq in our oven usually." When mummy comes home and hears about it, we will all be in trouble.
