Well, I think it might be that those things that are hardwired for humans are hardwired in all humans. So, it's really only those things that humans can learn / adapt to that are different.

It's interesting that I found that when you get a new sheep in the flock in most respects they assimilate quickly so very soon they are indistinguishable. But it's not the case with chickens; if you introduce new chickens into the flock they pretty much always keep on flocking with their old chums and don't assimilate well.

    Hehehe,

    Depends on the chooks. :).

I put two silky x boys out recently with the big hens (fox decoys :o) and one is so much part of the group within two days it was easy to tell the boys apart from a distance. One obviously felt out of his depth. I noticed this week, that now both boys are well in the group and the roosting positios etc were reflecting that.

Certainly , some bunch together (like my millefleur girls.....).

I have an ex batt who leaves all the big chickns most days to come over to the front lawn to visit with the lawn birds. But then goes back to her group for the night. :).

Animals have friends too, and some studies (though the ones I have flicked through) have shown some like 'like bodies'. So, examples of what weirdos like to use to justify racism etc.

There are IME differences in relatively stable groups to relatively mobile ones. When special girl died the horses performed a behaviour that the nearest I've seen is what I've seen /read reported in elephant behaviour. Usually, one lets them see the body they sniff, seem to understand and move on quite ok. Not this time.

(By the time old girl went she's been away from them for a while and no one minded but the dogs and cats, who were offered same opportunity to see she was dead)

I'm just about to put some advice someone nice gave me by pm into action.

Stupid OPENREACH just don't get 'on walking stick, cannot pace anything out accurately through their heads. Its not something I'm that proud of. And no, I cannot take a call about it, because I'm ruddy hard of hearing to day!

Whilst I can appreciate it isn't something you'd feel proud of, it is most definitely nothing to feel ashamed (word chosen as opposite of proud) about. THEY are the ones who should be making sure the measurements they need are correct.

As silvercar says, hope the advice works.

Not for me, but i really like the bodice of this dress.

    http://uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_4,mon_4.4/5530586106#gallery

But , is it just me or is the view of it from the back awful? I love the neck line but it looks dreadfully dowdy to me. I'm trying to decide if its the beautiful models legs and body shape or the fact the dress might just not be the best cut for her (but then why put her in it) or if the dress actually does that to a woman. Always think if it makes a model look dowdy/any thing negative its a bad idea for a 'normal' woMan ....

Anyway, I wouldn't buy the dress even if it made her look amazing, but I do like the bodice.

Wish FC were here, to answer the question.....(I miss FC too. I am echoing everyone missing her and wondering how her mother/family is and saw this dres and thought FC would know what I mean and of course, she's not about)

I hope her life is Better than we fear.

Covered lace is very "In" at the moment. Front is nicer than the back.

I think navy is a dowdy colour and makes you look older. Needs to be enhanced with modern silver jewellery.

Almost exactly 100 years ago I believe. Before that you got a diagnosis and a prognosis and a prescription that was as likely to shorten as lengthen your life. I've heard 1915 quoted as the turnaround year, when going to the doctor started to lengthen your life. Possibly due to the war-pushing-technology-forward effect? (that must have a better name).

I'm surprised it was quite that late - after all, antisepsis ideas kicked in earlier, didn't they?

I remember we had to learn about "natural kinds" of things and was surprised to see how many ways cultures divide up the colour spectrum. Choctaw tribespeople use the same word for blue and green. There's a tribe somewhere that uses only a couple of words for colour ( I think it's "red-orange-yellow-brown" and "blue-grey- green- violet"). Come to think of it, the Romans didn't have separate words for blue and grey.

I remember reading a few years ago somewhere that "blue" as a colour concept was thought to be remarkably modern.

Much better a partner who knows what they want and is able to communicate that than one who doesn't know / won't say.

Couldn't agree with you more - "whatever you want, dear" is an infuriating attitude.

Worse still, someone who won't say what she wants, but holds it against people who don't manage to guess in the absence of information.

Why does he have a weak immune system? Is that connected with autistic issues, or is it just a random extra?

Blue is a late comer because we could produce it late and with expense. It was considered expensive and divine and when not divine then royal I believe. Memory on this is at this moment hazy. Woad or Lapis lazuli was certainly not cave painting colour, like browns and ochres but There was always sky, and corn flowers. I don't thing we can know that it wasn't a concept of blue anywhere pre our creation of it. Someone must have thought at some point looking at lapis lazuli .....if I grind this I can get lapis colour.......
  • I love lapis, it's utterly gorgeous stuff.

I liked it and had nothing against the back...what would you do to it to "improve" it? To me it is a lace dress which makes it ornate/embellished enough.

fc is also in my thoughts and hoping she and her loved ones are doing OK and taking one day at a time.

In the absence of news of MissK I just hope no news is good news.
