I remember you'd said something about being near the river. I'd be very wary. !
A friend of OHs has a house on the banks of a river. Cellar has been flooded for the last week and by Friday water was lapping the steps at the back of the house. They have lived there many years and never had flooding before.0 -

I'm sure I read it when reading about kit homes and one of the reasons they were so super at heat retention was that the windows were small.
On the escape a fire front, when we changed our windows the guy said that there were regulations on minimum size openings to allow escape. There was a question of us having to have a double hinged window, but then there is a rule that allows you to get away with less than the requirements if it is a replacement rather than new opening. Which probably means we need to watch any weight gain or we won't be able to escape our room.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I had cabg in April.Cabg causes memory loss and some loss of intellectual function. It is assumed to be temporary however that is not wholly my experience in that I feel I have recovered but when tired/brain is full the same loss of way findng/planning skills and loss of memory comes into effect.
I can't find my way home/use basic IT such as microsoft as I just can't find my way round it. I tell my team who witness this "my brain is not working" . Feel this more at present but will only work Mon-Weds from 27th of this month so hoping for an improvement.:)
Now I have an excuse for lapses - although to be fair I don't think I have really suffered that way.0 -
Where do you find this stuff? And why?
I think it was me who revealed the foxy meister on the Nice Thread originally, and I did it because...
... it has 365 million views...
... which means Mr Foxy is a millionaire many times over now.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

And saying it was 1/10th of that when it was a 4 bedroom housechewmylegoff wrote: »....woman was talking about her buildings insurance premium being £8,000 for a 1.5 bedroom house.....

Maybe get a bit of land there. Build a house from watertight containers - leaving the doors in situ and open.... when it rains, rush round and shut all the container doors..... and there'd be a set of stairs onto the 2nd storey, which'd be a self contained, solar-powered, studio room, with balcony and inflatable dinghy.chewmylegoff wrote: »... it is one of the areas we were looking at (not the island itself ....0 -
That's because you probably don't scour the market for the cheapest houses in any given areaNever seen a 1.5 bedroom house!
It's where there's a room that's not really big enough to be a 2nd bedroom.... so OK as a nursery or office, or occasional guest room. Think something like 5'3" x 6' or 4'6" x 6' - a room, but it's not.0 -
That's the size of my bedroom from age 11-26vivatifosi wrote: »There are some flats near my parents that have a half bedroom. IIRC the room is something like 6ft by 6ft and the council would not allow it to be described as a bedroom in the sales literature as it did not meet size requirements. Cot room or dressing room I think.0 -
Posh alert - intending to buy a house, any house. In our neck of the woods, the cheapest house is £625,000 and that's a one bed house less than 600 sq ft. Flats are cheaper, though (-:
