I've been winding down the freezer for a while so they would probably fit. Tbh at four this morning I would have got in there myself rather than wake up again.0 -
Our path is like a skating rink this morning. Not nipping up the garden in my dressing gown and slippers to let the chooks out. They will have to have a lie in. BBC weather says 6 degrees, thermometer on garage wall says 1 degree.
I may go back to bed or just snuggle up on a sofa with the laptop.
Pretty determined not to do much that is productive for the next hour or two anyway.0 -

Re smoke alarms, nobody in NSW died in 2013 in a house fire when the house was fitted with working smoke alarms.
The firies came round yesterday and fitted a new one in the lounge as that was where the problem was. We had a hard wired one, but in the hallway the other side of a closed door. Apparently the optimum is one per room, which we will probably go with now. The new one is rather lovely to look at too, like a little spaceship has landed on the ceiling, would be quite happy to have those everywhere.
It's this one that has been installed if anyone is considering getting some:

I'm quite upset that the 10% brain thing is rubbish. Any idea where it came from?
I confirmed a factoid recently: a rod in your eye can detect a single photon in a dark room. It takes 7 to set off the optical nerve however.
Aiui one of the people who has a similar brain situation to me who also got better surprisingly is also a musician. He still has more complex skills undamaged like ...well...music
. I have other things better. It was suggested early on that it was the 'pathways' we had strengthened and developed for musical skill might be relevant 0 -

Has anyone else found the BBC's forecasts particularly rubbish lately? They constantly tell me I can step out of the house in to beautiful sunshine when it is totally tipping down. Netweather seems a bit better though, as would be the Met Office if I could work out what region they think Hertfordshire is in. From their maps it is not straightforward. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Bbc online is pretty accurate or where I am. I live in an odd spot though so....0 -
We are probably the last people in the world to have seen this, and I know it has been running years... but I am going to admit, the Spirit family have just seen Les Mis at Queens theatre. I had no prior knowledge of the plot, and did not previously know the tunes until I recognised them. DD had seen the film and OH had read the book.
I loved it, could have turned around and watched it again.
I saw it again a few weeks ago, but only because a friend's little one was playing Gavroche. Story line is a bit depressing and if it wasn't for the songs, I wouldn't think it worth seeing.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I didn't say it was the only thing I was afraid of, did I?:DDoozergirl wrote: »Please tell me it's Oswaldtwistle tomterm, that would be brilliant!
They didn't have that much imagination. Unfortunately, because it would be a cool name. Oswaldtwistle isn't it.lostinrates wrote: »Aiui one of the people who has a similar brain situation to me who also got better surprisingly is also a musician.
It's a documented fact that musicians and athletes on average heal better from strokes and traumatic brain injuries too.
I personally think it is their experience of practice that makes the difference. Anyone who is a good musician has gone through the experience of being BAD at something for two, three, four hours a day and still continuing to practice.
With something difficult like recovering from a brain injury, that is an essential skill to have.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I had two things in my favour then.
Personally I think that my strongest suit. ( besides fir) has been 'grit' or stubbornness.
. Neurologist for example says'you cannot have tn because you are wearing earrings '. I say 'I rEALLY like these earrings'. Besides, you can earrings out if it gets too much. 0
