LIR. Talk to your local Alzheimer's Association: they're amazing as a rule and really helped my mum through the process with my Dad.
If that's no good, PM me and I'll put you in touch with her. Since Dad died she's tried to help other people through the journey of Alzheimer's.
IIRC, one really important thing is to get this down as a medical rather than a social problem if possible. That way the NHS will provide resources and they're rather richer than the local council.
Alzheimer's is not a fun disease at all. You have my very great sympathy.
Got this with first part of my post code, so will have a play with town names on map."
No services where found covering the postcode you entered. You may want to try entering a nearby postcode or by navigating via our map of local services."
Can they help before any diagnoses?
Its a relief to know none of you think I'm overreacting. RP is obviously defensive. GP brushed it off.
Egads......typical for this area......services are in the local cities, and we fall in a sort of twilight zone covered by none of them really. But probably still worth a call you think? I suppose I'd call the one of the city of hospital I'd most likely I go to.0 -

That's them!
They can drive....... but they've no idea who they are, where they're from, or where they're going.
Might have to look at GPS tracking methods of [a] car person. Person is harder, you can get watches, but then you rely on them having put the watch on the day they go walkabout.
Obviously you're not at that stage.... and hopefully won't be. But you need to be aware of what's possible and what's in your power.0 -

Many of us here have seen/done these things.0 -
Oh, that makes a lot of sense pastures.
I have had to ask RP to stop being negative about non RP several times now. Seems cannot resist making horrid comments at times. Before to left last time we even rowed about it, (RP never rows just pretend has no emotions) but then RP did something UNPRECIDENTED, admitted to DH that it was wrong, that's the nearest ever made to an apology in entire life! ) that said....first hour back made a jibe at non rp's expense again.
Its very difficult.
I'm not 'emotionally close' to either of my parents really, not like one would like to be, but I'm ok with that.but I obviously don't like this sort of thing. If RP 'cannot help it' it makes more sense.

I don't see why not. The thing about the Alzheimer's Association isn't just the charity itself, it's the network of patients' families that is so helpful. The local one to my mum had regular (monthly?) lunches so you had 20-30 people around the table each of whom wanted to share their experiences. Of that lot you'd get some diagnosed early, some late, all sorts.
My Dad was diagnosed with stress and then depression before Alzheimer's was diagnosed. He was in his 50s which probably didn't help.0 -

I said the same, at the time, about my mum - she'd have known all the stuff asked.... but I think their test is cleverer than that.
One of the issues I have to deal with now is that mum appears full-functioning. e.g. if you phoned her now and asked her what she did yesterday she might say "I went to my daughter's for lunch; a lady taxi driver picked me up. We had beef to eat". Now, that sounds coherent, but compared to my version it's loony tunes. My version is: "2 weeks ago I picked up mum and took her for Xmas dinner at sibling's.... we had turkey".
Only I would know what she said was loony tunes; anybody conversing with her would say she was playing with a full set.
I think RP would be close to the accurate still. I really think we are very early stages. It think RP knows what is going on, just not the little I between stages....like.....eat a meal yes, but.....turn the cooker of no,0 -
On completely unrelated news I've finally got round to joining the donor register.
It's actually easily done online from http://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/how_to_become_a_donor/ .“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I want to find some one who wants my extraordinary brainwhen I kick the bucket. My neurologist refuses to point me in the right direction, one of the reasons I don't get on with her. I think its been so very adaptable and surprising to all the experts it might hold many answers or interesting questions for research.
I understand this all has to be in place before you die. Some dept wanted it before but isn't interested now :rotfl:.0 -

One test used is the MMSE. You can find a copy here. http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/resources/our-services/acute-medicine-gi-surgery/elderly-care/mini-mental-state-evaluation.pdf
One of the questions reads:
Repeat "No ifs, ands, or buts"
I tried that out loud and duly messed it up the first time.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
