The form I've just filled in had three Black British options - Caribbean, African and Other.

I'm terribly boringly white British. No knowledge of any non-white or non-British ancestors on either side. My grandmother was born in India, but to British parents who were out there doing something to do with organising the building of railways, I think. (This was 1895.)

Me too - apart from the glamourous Indian-born Granny.

But I don't see it as boring, necessarily. It's just as interesting, really, as your ancestors being Afghan Sikhs, or being a curiously blue-eyed dark-skinned descendant of Pashtan warriors.

My mother bought us all T-shirts a decade or two ago saying, "Speak slowly, I'm a natural blonde".
I hope that was printed slowly - as I know you can't read very fast :)

I don't really feel ethnically boring. I suppose I meant "unremarkably" white British, in the context of a discussion about the troubles people have with forms of that kind.

I would love to be a natural blonde. Having been blonde until I was in my early teens, I still feel inside that I'm a "blonde who went brown" rather than a brunette. DS, too, is sad that his childhood blond hair is darkening.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Having been on that "widowed young" weekend I posted about back in September, I feel confident that "real" widows are happy to accept me as one of them, but I also know that divorcees are happy to accept me as one of them too, so I now feel I belong in both camps rather than in neither. :D
Widows are quiet, demure and delighttful.
Divorcees are hot, racy and go to nightclubs.

I'm certainly not quiet or demure or racy, and I haven't been in a nightclub for decades.

    I love blood pudding.

Over the last year or so, as, unbeknownst to me, my body found it harder to cope on food, my cravings became odder. Rare meat has been frequently yearned for and once a month or so I have a very rare, blue steak. I was always a rare to medium rare gal rather than blue, which i find a bit yuck and feel heading back that way to wards pink now. Frankly I have literally craved blood. :(. Very odd indeed.

Edit...I actually meant to type black pudding. I am obviously focusing on key ingredient ATM. Lol.

Ew. Glad I don't have that craving my vampiric friend, it wouldn't fit in with my vegetarian sensibilities. Recently I have been craving milk. I have no idea why.

Just reading that Wiki link has led to an interesting discussion here.

I have always washed all meat before preparation, but Wiki makes it look like this is an unusual practice. Hubby has just confirmed that before meeting me, he never saw anyone wash meat. I even wash smoked bacon.

Am I really that unusual? It has nothing to do with religion or culture ( I think!) But purely to do with hygiene.

Wanting blood doesn't exactly endear open to oneself. :rotfl:
