Two Amex?

I currently have the Platinum charge card and pretty much put all of my spending on to it for the reward points.

Do they allow you to have a second card?

I'd like to apply for one of their credit cards to take advantage of the 5% cash back offer. I'm going to make a largish purchase soon and £125 cash back on my purchase is too good to resist, I can then repay it immediately using cash.

    Yep.

I know someone in the US who has dozens of Amex cards. None with a balance, all for jiggling about with rewards.

Yes, you can have up to 2 charge cards and 2 credit cards with them.

"dozens" is good going. as per above, 2 Charge and 2 Credit is the max, from my understanding.

the Platinum Cashback Credit Card is great for me. and you can be 'referred' by an existing cardholder and receive £25 each:dance:

For a couple of months I held 3 credit cards and 1 charge card. They definitely make exceptions to the "rule".

ok, good. i find their CS to be excellent. have never had a charge card, but held the old Amex Blue and then have had my Platinum Cashback card for several years. they really do make the effort to look after you.

I have 2 plats, just used them for Shopsmall on saturday, unusual , but, they are not refunding my £5 cashbacks very prompt.only 2 out of 6 so far, this time, and not in pending, but had all e-mails. phone them tomorrow if not on .
Regarding the cashback on Plats;;They have just written to me, and NO cashback is paid below £25 now, so,if you earn £24.99, you lose it.
I don,t pay the annual charge, because I ,use my mbna as my default card. If I don,t use it once a year, I,m fined, so tend to just keep it for benefits, such as shopsmall.

That's a pretty impressive array of 13 credit cards you already have according to your signature - even if they all have negligible balances and/or were taken out primarily for the peripheral benefits, there might presumably come a point where CC providers would baulk at allowing access to yet more credit?
