  • I think my best bargain for Christmas was a Hello Kitty play kitchen for my 13month old twin girls that I was given through freecycle. Looks brand new :j

We have also got them 2 small foam armchairs for £10 via Ebay and a carrier bag of brand new books from the carboot for £5

I also follow the amazon toy bargains thread and have got quite a few bits from there. I just loooooove a bargain :money:

Has to be the playmobil set 5956 purchased yesterday in the big Asda in Ipswich for £6. Yippee!! My little one will be pleased. It contains 33pieces making up a sledge, reindeer,Xmas tree, snowman,FC,elf and lanterns. They also had some elf workshops at the same price retailing at Amazon for around £25!

    Hope that helps

Do you have a pic or more details, my DD is getting playmobil for xmas and when asked last night what she wanted all she has asked for is a christmas tree for her farm (playmobil farm advent calendar)

I managed to pick up some black boots for my sister that were originally £25 for £2. They were reduced in the sale, the label on my pair said £7 but I was charged £12 so customer services refunded double the difference (£10) so overall cost to me £2. Yay!!!

Sorry don't know how to upload a photo!
  • Sorry, can't add photo re playmobil as a newbie. Barcode is 4008789059567.

Best christmas bargain this year has to be the 02 priority moments deals.
In the past 3 weeks alone I have used codes for....

£4.49 christmas wrap from WH Smiths
£6.99 christmas cards from WH Smiths
£10 off perfume from fragrance shop (christmas present)
Free xmas wrap from 02 shop
£5 spent on a gift from the body shop (another christmas present)
    £3.49 card from WH Smiths
£8.99 skylander from Game (yet another xmas present)
£15 gift card spent on another xmas present in Debenhams
£22 scarf for me from White stuff after buying £4 lip balm.

Total = £72.98 worth of stuff + gift wrap + also just remembered the crunchems chocs from WH Smiths
    Payout £4 for lip balm

    Still to collect
    Batteries
    another card from WH Smiths
    another £5 body shop code
    Matchbox car from Halfords

Not bad at all for £10 a month PAYG :T
  • I start my Christmas present shopping in the July sales!
I also "rediscovered" crafts I learned at school in the 60's such as knitting and crochet a couple of years ago. Now I'm always on the lookout for yarn being sold off in hobby and charity shops. I've got loads of (approx 15) fancy scarves that cost between £2 and £4 each, really nice glitzy ones that are now in the "scarf present" box.
I've also got lovely hand made (crochet and knitted) cushions. The cushion pad inserts can cost as much as £5 each, but I buy Asda Savers pillows £3 for a twin pack and use them to make the cushion pads. One savers pillow makes a well filled square pad. Aran knit cushions are really "in" just now and I've made 45cms square ones for about £2 each with charity shop aran wool and savers pillow/cushion pads.
Odds of wool make great little Christmas tree decs and virtually no cost.
I made all my own cards, but haven't found a way of sending them any cheaper!
It's a great way of whiling away the TV watching hours and means you never feel guilty about watching some favourite programme on the box. :j

Just had a fantastic weekend away for pre-Christmas and OH birthday treats.
So very pleased with myself, using a combination of showfilm first tickets, red spotted hanky vouchers, mystery shops, club individual and other discounts. The OH and I have just had a weekend away in London with two west end shows, 5 star hotel, return train tickets, 3 2 course meals and copious amounts of drink which should/would have cost £650 and my actual cash out lay was £120 :T

Just went to the wholesale fruit market for our Christmas tree as we do every year.

Driving past a skip to get to where the trees were being sold, I spotted a real christmas tree on top of the skip.

Got out to have a look, and it's a perfect christmas tree.

Nobody around to ask for permission so I got it off the skip and into the car.

Got it home, checked it over and it's absolutely fine.

We had such a laugh about it and it's what I call a REAL Christmas bargain!!!
  • My best bargains this Christmas were probably the Lego coast guard set from Argos. RRP is £69.99 got it for £31. Also got a couple of Lego annuals from Penguin for 88p each.
