Ovivo No 3G

I have just tried Tweakker and it appears to be giving me different settings than Ovivo. Still cannot connect!
I will give Ovivo Customer Services a ring when they open tomorrow.0 -
Do the 3g and status bars turn green like they do when it's wifi icon and status bars do when connected to wifi ?I am indoors at the moment so I turned off Wifi and changed it to None but it does not make any difference.
All four bars on the icon at the top of the screen are lit up and 3G is showing so the connection is there. In the Mobile Network Settings Data Enabled is ticked.Should anything else be ticked for 3g?It's not just about the money0 -
'3g' or 'mobile data' (i.e. 3g or H with 2 arrows)?
I have just switched Wifi off again and as soon as I did a H appeared over the four bars.
I tried resetting all the APN's to default. Then I used the Tweakker settings but they didn't work. Ovivo settings were slightly different but they didn't work either. I will give CS a ring this morning.0 -
I find Ovivo (possibly Vodafone too) is a bit unstable for 3G data.
I get 3G coverage fine but it seems to work in spurts for 3G/ H/ H+ data.
When I switch to 2G on the mobile, it connects fine but slower (E)
Would be annoyed off if i was paying, but okayish for free. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
This sounds like a similar problem I had with my HTC Sensation and, in my case, I never did get it to work.
I contacted their Customer Support (who were very helpful) but despite having all the correct settings I couldn't get 3G data connectivity.
I've pasted below the final response emailed to me from Ovivo -
Dear Customer
Thank you for your enquiry regarding your internet issues. We have had an response from our support team who have advised the following.
The issue you are having is an Android issue we have seen before.
The presence of locked Vodafone settings by some device ROMs, causes all connection attempts with other settings to fail. If the APN backup and Restore application is not able to remove these settings, the device will not be compatible with our service.
The presence of a connection profile, higher up the list is that it will be used as preference by the device.
Only option for the you to would be to take the device to their retailer or direct to manufacturer for support.
Kind Regards

I tried everything already mentioned, including Tweaker, but I think the only option would be to undertake some serious work on your phone which involves updating the Rom. In my case the phone was fully up to date with HTC so it would mean implementing non standard changes to the phone which I wasn't prepared to do in case I damaged it in some way.
I am now on 3.0 -
Might seem stupid to say but are you sure there is a 3g network where you are? Ovivo use vodafone which have the worst 3g coverage of them all and even in areas where they claim 3g its not very good.
An example. I live in North Wales. Voda have no 3g at all (according to the coverage maps) within 8 miles of me. Move about 10 miles away to the coast and voda claim good 3g. I have clients on the coast so i know that claim is bogus. The phone says a 3g network is available but it wont connect automatically as the 2g is stronger. When i do connect the download speed is 0.1 megabits (3g should be around 3 megabits).
It could simply be that you dont actually have a usable 3g network.0 -
I suspect your right and it's just a Vodafone issue.
I've also noticed that data is worse when i use 3G 900 rather than 3G 2100 (*#0011# shows detailed network data)Might seem stupid to say but are you sure there is a 3g network where you are? Thanks for the replies.
I rang CS and they said I got a connection for the first time at about 8 last night. I think that was about the time I used the Tweakker settings. My account now shows I used 270kb last night and 180kb this morning but I still cannot connect to the internet via 3g!
Must be something straightforward so I will keep playing with the settings until it works.0
