The units sit on legs that are adjusted to level them up, but you should find there is about 150mm approx between floor and underside of units.
I would avoid cutting the units if possible. If you run pipes along the wall say 50-100mm above the floor it will be fine. The legs sit forward from the back so pipes can easily run behind. Rather run them there than inside a wall in case of leaks!
The backs of the units are made of hardboard which is pinned in place and keeps the units "square" so they cannot be moved forward in my opinion.
Keep everything low down and bring them neatly up through the unit base where required.0 -
Thank you everyone for your replies.
I ordered it on Friday night and we are more than happy so far!
It cost £3k instead of the extortionate prices we had been quoted from other places for a very similar kitchen - in fact the Ikea one was my favourite.
We are having it delivered for £50 (even though its a a good 90min trip) and they had everything on our order in stock bar 2 small items.
The kitchen planner (Sue Mac at the Warrington store!!) was fabulous and knew her stuff and she whizzed through it giving us tips and ideas for things we hadn't even thought of.
We did find some of their appliances expensive for what they were so we are buying our fridge, hob, extractor and microwave from elsewhere but the oven we got from them as it wasn't too bad a price.
The fitting was £2k but after sitting waiting to see the kitchen planner for about 30 mins (this was 9pm on a Friday night !!) we got chatting to everyone around and some people who had already had their kitchen and were coming back for more said their 10 year old kids were putting the drawers & cupboards together they were that simple and everyone had installed their own so we are going to have a go too !
So thanks again for your help!

So all we need now is to find out how we can get best (if any) discount!
You used to be able to save 10% or so by taking out an Ikea card - does anyone know if this is the case?
Any Ikea employees lurking who could give us some tips please0 -
I don't think the card 10% cashback is available any more, but I often see them offering interest free credit for 12 months. Best idea is to ring up and ask.0

Ikea kitchen fan here too - the landlord installed ours and we have been here for 20 months now and it still looks brand new! Its really holding up well and looks rather swish, i'd definately buy one for my own place if I ever get round to it!
Also, from what I can see they look fairly simple to construct, ive always been able to construct most IKEA stuff by myself, even a 10ft wardrobe!

The remaining balance of the kitchen I got on 12 monthly payments at 0%, so pretty good deal. It only takes about 10 mins to fill in the forms and get the application phoned through.0 -
I am jsut about to purchase a kitchen and been thinking about getting from Ikea.
Hadnt considered fitting myself before reading this thread but now toying with the idea if it.
any suggestions comments to help me make the decision?0 -
Think you'll find it's 5% - off first transaction, so if you're going to need other stuff, too - do a really looooooooong list & get in in one go.
Take back what you don't need & they refund to a seperate card, the value of returned items. so you don't make anything extra, but don't loose out either!!
