  • sorry guys not impressed , we have been on the sat 12pm session ,i know we didnt pay for tickets but personally i wouldn't put the kids thought it again , the queues weren't that long , but dont queue for face painting if you have a under 3 , the wont do under 3s , ( that was a 30min wait half ,it getting very wet only to be told no , then left with crying daughter for the remaing time on the park and the journey home) there wasnt no signs to tell us this ,

it took us 4 hours to get from Nottingham to Manchester ,40 mins to get into the park and around 3 1/2 to get back , normally only less than two .
wellys are a must , for everyone ,, it was a bit to much for the kids ,

don't bother with buggy s and prams the ground is like a swamp ,
also take a change of clothes for every one as well .
i felt sorry for people who payed mega money and stayed up there in hotels or even travelled for longer than us ,
one family came from kent , the hubby said he hadent been to bed since friday morning and have been stuck in traffic since Friday afternoon and all four of them slept in a car on a motorway in traffic (oh how nice )

sorry nick jr , but i think it should of been stopped , and wasn't worth the drive up to Manchester ,
next time guys try having it around the country please and make it a bit easier on the parents please . remeber we pay the sky bill guys not the kids

We went yesterday and did have a bit of a wait as the gates didnt open until 12pm. I did however think they had done as much as they possibly could as they were handing out magazines and smoothie drinks for the kids and they went up and down the queue a few times. We didn't queue up for face painting and reading Sally's post I'm very glad we didn't as we have a 3 year old.

I think we were very unlucky with the weather. Anybody planning an event in the middle of July would not expect to be facing the weather conditions that Nick Jr did, and it has to be said that they catered for it as best as they could.

I would agree with Sally that I probably wouldn't travel far to go to it again, but as it was, it was literally on our doorstep and the kids had a great time. It didn't cost anything, they weren't selling anything other than refreshments, so didn't put parents under the pressure of having to keep forking out to keep their children happy and it passed away two and a half hours, where the kids were actually happy !!!

  • I agree with holliefabbabe to a degree - our session was 9-11.30. I have a 3 yr old and although we didn't queue for face painting, the queues to the rest of the stages were a joke! We waited nearly half an hour to access the Lazy Town stage only to discover "Petercus" and Kathricus"! Although my DS joined in the activities I was expecting more from the session. We were pleased for the nice weather however we still got muddy and taking my 11 mth old in her buggy was a task and a half through the mud! Lucky for us however we only lived about half an hour away. It was free though and i'm really sorry to go on!

Just my day went off to a bad start - missed the first half an hour due to having a problem with the plumbing at home - leaking water everywhere, then couldn't find the stop tap, then on discovering it was behind the freezer when moving it took a chunk out of my flooring in the kitchen. Then thought i'd lost the ear piece from my blue tooth and discovered i'd ran over it in the road outside my house!

Other than that the day went swimmingly lol!

We've been at the 9am session today, and have to say that for a free event, it was very good.

Yes, unfortunate about the weather but we'd taken advice from yesterdays, MSE postings and gone to the event in wellies.

It was great that there were so many interactive events and the stage show was ok too.

Kids were pleased with all of the freebies.

They thought that the Kandoo dancing was brill.

If I was to offer advice to the organiser, it would be to have 2 entrance / exit points as it took a while to get into the event - almost 20 minutes after the event had started.

I was heartened and very suprised that there weren't merchandise stalls selling stuff. Great to go to something and not have the children pressuring you to buy things.

We travelled from Halifax (approx. 40 miles away) and felt that it was well worth the trip. After having our picnic in the car, we went on to The Airport pubs' beer garden at the start of Manchester Airports' runway to watch the planes coming and going.
One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.

Unfortunately Lou81 never arrived to pick the tickets up at 2pm. Bit annoying really as we have sat in waiting for her and they probably could have gone to somebody else instead. Maybe there is a genuine reason for not turning up but she had my mobile number, a quick phone call wouldn't have hurt! Still never mind.
