LOL at irrelevant rant :rotfl:
Your e-mirror not working?0 -
If we're feeling pedantic, it was road tax (or Road Fund Licence) which Churchill abolished. Vehicle Excise Duty means "vehicle tax tax", so "Car Tax" is quite a reasonable shorthand for it - a tax levied on cars (and some other vehicles).
Or if we're feeling really pedantic we'll point out that Churchill was a backbencher in 1937!0 -
Showroom tax? You mean like VAT?
So same as bikes then
MOT,well mine cost £28 and £3 for a bulb
Fuel? Well if you dont want to pay it,dont use it
Road tax, well buy a car that doesnt pay any
buy new and no MOT either. Win win!
A little clue there
So where shall the masses find the money to buy new expensive cars with no ved to pay then replace every couple of years to avoid heavy bills come mot time? As well as not using fuel to get to work every day.0 -

It's working perfectly, thanks.
It was you who quoted my post pointing out that motorists (which, incidentally, include motorcyclists by definition) pay more than the whole cost of the road system, leaving nothing for cyclists (as per normal useage, the pedal powered type) to pay, and used that to launch some spurious point about cars v motorbikes.
Where do you get your leathers tailored to fit that (well established) chip on your shoulder btw?0 -
see the governments point of view, we as a corporate Britain are severe in debt, now the stationary is being affected like all businesses , must cut back on paper ink and the posh holographic foil! I suppose.0

If they did away with VED altogether they could also save on a huge swathe of (Welsh) civil servants and office space.0

Panda's don't tend to do traffic stops0 -
As for how will 'we' know a car is taxed - easy, there will be an App for that, in just the same way there is for MoT and Insurance (MIB).
It'll be interesting to see if I can put my cars on the road in a monthly rotation......0 -
